2 Software for Internet Sharing in Windows 7

Imagine you’re some place outside and your friend needs to access the internet through his laptop, but doesn’t have a wireless 3G dongle. The only option would be to share internet connection with your friend, right from your laptop. This can be done natively in Windows 7, but since we are all growing more and more lazier, it would be nicer if there was some software that would do the job for us. And as it happens, there are a few and I’ll be talking about two such free software that’ll  let you share internet in Windows 7.

How to Share Internet in Windows 7

Here I’ll be using two free software that’ll help your turn your Windows 7 system into a WiFi hotspot. Firstly, there is Connectify and then there is mHotspot. If you’re a regular Windows 7 user, then you must be aware of the Virtual WiFi feature that is inbuilt, these two software use the same thing, but make it far more simpler.

Connectify

Connectify

Connectify can be used to create instant WiFi hotspots using your Windows 7 system. Download Connectify, install and follow the onscreen instructions to get started. It’s not hard at all. Once it’s all set up, you can even use it to improve the range of your home router and connect your mobile device, other laptops and devices to your personal hotspot. And, yes it works. You can also use this to share another WiFi network, not just yours. Watch the video after the break.

There you go!! That’s one down, one more to go.

mHotSpot

If you just want a software to quickly create a WiFi hotspot using your own Router or USB datacard, then this is best option for you. Just enter a name for your HotSpot, a password and hit the Start button. It’ll be activated instantly, no messing around at all. However, this cannot use other WiFi networks to create hotspots, it only uses your home network. It can also be used to amplify the range of your router, but this might cause lags in internet speeds.

mHotSpot

Download mHotSpot now start your own WiFi hotspot.

These are the two simplest software to enable internet sharing in Windows 7 or create a WiFi hotspot using your Windows 7 system. Do try them out and let us know how they worked for you.

Best Windows 8 Transformation Pack for Windows 7

Microsoft released the first Windows 8 developer preview a few weeks ago, and most of us have already tried it. I’ve also written a complete review of all the new features that you’ll find in the developer preview. One of the main reasons that millions of users have already installed and tried the developer preview is the Metro UI based start menu.

However, there are millions more out there of the other kind too, who don’t want to install or try the developer preview because they’re afraid their system may lock up. Some people don’t even know that Microsoft has released an official developer preview that people can actually download for free and try. These people look for other alternatives, such as a Windows 8 transformation pack. And believe me, there are plenty of those, but most of them are always buggy and don’t work as they should. Here’s one that will work and it simulates the Metro UI of Windows 8 pretty well and it’s called Windows 8 UX pack for Windows 7.

This Windows 8 transformation pack brings more than just the Metro UI Start screen. It also adds the Windows 8 font, visual styles, wallpapers, colors etc. It doesn’t modify any system settings, so when you uninstall the pack, your Windows 7 will return to its original looks and feel.

Windows 8 UX Pack will give you Windows 8 UI improvements such as theme and logon screen without touching system files at all so it won’t have such risk to harm your system at all. In this package, you’ll have Windows 8 inspired themes and applications to make your system resembles Windows 8 as much as possible without modifying system files. Give your desktop a visual boost with the Windows 8 UX Pack.

Upon installation, you’ll be asked to choose between a Windows 8 Aero interface or the Windows 8 Lite and from there onward, your start screen will look a lot different. This is one of the best ways to experience Windows 8 on Windows 7, without the need to install the developer preview.

Get Windows 7 Ultimate Aero Effects on Home Basic and Starter Edition

If you’re stuck on Windows 7 Home Basic or Starter Edition and can’t enjoy the personalization features on Ultimate, then here’s something you ought to do to get all those extra features. Windows 7 Ultimate personalization features include all those Aero effects and extra Desktop features that isn’t packaged with Home Basic and Starter Edition.

There are other ways to get all those features on your Windows 7 edition, but all those include installation of certain third-party applications. However, the Aero Glass, Aero Peek, Aero Shake and other Aero features are difficult to come by. To skip all those installations and programs, you can now get all the features by downloading and running a certain Patch. The Patch comes from Mr. Dusha and was made public Microsoft MVP ‘Vishal Gupta’. It gives you all those personalization features on your Home Basic or Starter Edition Windows 7 operating System and makes it as customizable as Ultimate by patching all the system files automatically.

windows_7_starter_aero_patch_by_vishal_gupta

The installation procedure is really very simple. Before you try this, make sure all your work is saved and all running programs are closed and only then proceed. Why? Because as soon as you run the Patch.exe file, the system restarts.

  • Download the Patch, which is in a zip format, from over here.
  • Unzip the folder and then run the Patch.EXE file inside it.
  • As soon as you run it, your computer will automatically restart and patch all the necessary files.

That’s it!! After the reboot, you’ll have all the personalization features of Windows 7 Ultimate.

If you want to remove it, which I really doubt, you can re-run the patch.exe file again.

Let us know if you succeeded in getting this done on your Laptop or Desktop. Remember, this is only for Windows 7 Home Basic and Starter Edition, which lack the Aero effects and Personalization features.
