If you’ve never heard of this app, then you should read our review of the iPad version here. Flipboard for iPhone is a magnificent magazine themed feed reader app that makes reading news articles much more interesting and fun.

It places all the news articles from various websites and feeds in a magazine styled snippet format, with all the news jumbled and most of them featuring an image. It’s really a work of art, and makes you want to read or just glance through all the pages whatsoever. A must have app for a Blogger or a reader.

Protect your Private Data with My Secret Folder App [iOS]

Like we’ve always told, security and privacy and two major aspects of life that no human being would compromise with. Even if it’s only your mobile device that we’re talking about. People like to have their personal/important/classified/military grade top-secret data protected. Here is another app for iOS devices that does that job very well and looks good while doing it. The My Secret Folder app is thus, not a free app, as it promises to protect your data at all times from nosey guys and intruders.

So, how does this app protect your data? Well, My Secret Folder creates a new folder in iOS and names it My Folder, it looks like a folder that contains some apps, but it isn’t. It doesn’t have any apps in it, but instead stores all your important photos, videos and other data that you don’t want everyone else to look at. When you click the folder icon, you’ll have to provide a set password to gain access and you can also set a decoy password, you know just to fool those who’re looking.

If someone tries to break in by trying out codes, the app will automatically take a photo using the front camera and also tag them on a map. So, next time you forget your iPhone at home, you can find out who tried to access the My Folder app. It also shows the number of times someone has tried to break in, as notifications. Lots of settings to fine tune the app and make all your photos and videos very secure. You can move all your private photos and videos to this app and then delete them from the photo album.

As you can see in the screenshot above, the folder looks like any other iOS folder, but inside is some highly confidential data of yours. It works really well and we do recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a good Password protection app. If you’ve jailbroken your iOS device, then you can also try AppLocker.

You can download My Secret Folder from the App Store for only $0.99. Try it out and let us know how it helped keep your photos and videos secure.

How to Lock Applications on Your iOS device [Jailbreak Tweak]

There are many ways a jailbroken iOS device is better than a regular one, the amount of tweaks available that make the operating system better is unlimited. Nowadays, people usually run behind security a lot, as most of their data is either stored online, on their computers and on their mobile devices. Even though all of them are pretty secure, it’s easy to break in to them. We all care about our important and personal data and sometimes we do not want to share it with others.

You can password lock your iOS device, but you can’t normally lock application that might be of much importance to you, for example the Messages, Contacts or Notes app. You might have some sensitive data in some of these applications, certain contacts that you may not want to share with others and important data in your Notes app. Wouldn’t it be much simpler if you could just lock applications instead of everything. There’s a tweak for that!

iAppLocker is a Cydia tweak available for all jailbroken iOS devices that can lock application with password protection for each and every app. You can select, which apps you would want to be locked in the Settings menu and also set the global password. All the locked applications will henceforth require you to input a password to gain access.

As you can see in the above screenshot, every time you launch a locked application, you’ll be asked to type in a password set by you. And, this makes your app really secure, by not allowing anyone else to open it. How to get this amazing Cydia tweak on your Jailbroken device?

Well, first of all, you’ll need to have a jailbroken iOS device. Once you have that, head over to Cydia and search for iAppLocker, install it, head over to Settings and Enable the tweak and set your password and select, which applications you’d like to password protect.

Remember, the tweak won’t get enable right after this. You’ll need to Respring to get the tweak working, the same must be followed when you want to disable it. It works pretty well and I was really impressed, so why don’t you try it out yourself and tell us what you think of it.

GimmeMusic: The Best Way to Discover New Music

Are you a music lover? Love listening to music? Can’t live without music? I’m sure if you’re such a type of person, then you’d obviously want to listen to new music, instead of listening to the same old tracks over and over again. The process to find new music, new albums, tracks by your favorite bands or new and upcoming bands, is not easy.

You literally have to scavenge the internet in search of new music, then find out if you like them and if they’re of your favorite genre. We all know that people who can’t live without music, like me, are really lazy. So if I’m on a mission to look for new music, the process usually involves asking friends, googling, checking the top lists and etc. At the end, I’m left with about 10 songs. Wouldn’t it be awesome if there was an app to do all the work for you? Well, there’s an app for that and it’s called GimmeMusic.

GimmeMusic is an iOS application, that is available for free on the App Store, which gives you a new list of songs every day or whenever you launch the app. It doesn’t discover music based on what you like, instead it just gives you a list that has some new songs. If you don’t like a song, you can just swipe to delete it and move on. If you liked a song, you can either listen to it on the app, check out more songs by the artist or buy it from iTunes. So, it’s not going to discover your type of music, but it does discover some nice tracks, I got some slick tunes from Rapture when I first fired it up.

Since this app is free, what it does is really great. You don’t have to pay for streaming songs or anything and you don’t have to manually search for music. The app keeps adding new songs to the list, so you can listen to them and decide yourself. A really useful app for any music lover on the face of the Earth, with an iOS device of course.

Download GimmeMusic now and tell us what you think about it.

Androids Popular Dolphin Browser Now Hits the Apple App store

We have covered extensively about iOS Browser apps in the past on CAG, specially the release of Skyfire browser for iOS was really a celebration thing because it allows users to play flash contents on their iDevice. But now another browsing sensation that is highly popular on Android platform has hit the Apple App store. Dolphin is the name of this third-party browser and according to many in the app industry it is by far the greatest browser that is there on Android marketplace.

Though you will find loads of browsers on Apple App store that do offer some really cool features but I think none of them is that good to force us to leave our normal browser. But I can bet that once you will get your hands on Dolphin Browser for iOS and start using it you will definitely make a switch.

Dolphin for iOS Features

Dolphin UI

The feature set of the browser is quite impressive, first of all there is the gesture feature which allows users to enter a combination that will eventually open a website.

Dolphin Gesture

Means that you don’t have to enter long URLs frequently, just draw a symbol and a website will open.

Dolphin Speed

Then comes the sidebars, you can quickly swipe either to the left or right to open a corresponding sidebar. Webzine feature of Dolphin browser allow users to remove clutter from their favorite websites, giving them a cleaner interface. VoiceKeys Brings Speech-to-Text to iOS devices [Cydia]

Voice Recognition is a feature that hasn’t been perfected yet, but every smartphone manufacturer is trying to improve it every day. Google’s voice recognition is pretty wonderful and quite accurate if you’re not a heavy breather and speak fluent English. Recently, there was this Apple Patent that was all about the text-to-speech and speech-to-text capabilities and Voice related developments for iOS and iOS devices. There isn’t any real such feature in the new iOS 5 either, but reports have suggested that there might be. For now, if you’re eager to check out Speech-to-text on your iOS device, then this Cydia App will make it happen.

VoiceKeys is a free Cydia app that brings voice recognition to native iOS apps such as Messages, Notes and anything that might require you to type. It’s actually pretty good and adds a new VoiceKeys button to the usual shortcuts that appear when you tap on the screen to type. It uses Google’s Voice Recognition engine, hence an internet connection is required and also some pretty good speaking skills. You’ll have to speak word by word for the app to understand what you’re saying. I played around with it for a bit and also tried speaking punctuation marks, when things got really interesting.

This app actually converts punctuation to text, which is quite impressive, well, I din’t know that Google Voice could do that. Wonderful in short. If you speak slowly, the voice will be converted to text and that too proper words, not some gibberish. You can download and install this on your jailbroken iOS device from the Big Boss Repo. It doesn’t weigh much, so it’ll just take some seconds to install.

It’s a very useful app if you’re one of those who like to take the easier and lazier route towards everything. Instead of typing words, you can just speak it out slowly and then hit the Recognize button. Yes, after you select VoiceKeys, a pop-up appears that says ‘recording voice’, and you’ll have to hit the Recognize button for it to stop and start doing its thing.

Do try out VoiceKeys and let us know what you think of it.

Evernote App for iPad Updated: New UI and Text Editing

When it comes to taking notes on an iOS device, the only best alternative to the stock Notes app is Evernote. It’s used by almost all iOS users and is one of the best note-taking apps on the App Store. The app is also available on other platforms and that makes it really useful. It’s also available on the Mac App Store and on Windows too.

Evernote is also available on the iPad, but it wasn’t as good as it’s iPhone or iPod Touch version. Hence, they’ve released a new updated version specially made for the Apple iPad that brings along some awesome new features. To start with, the new updated app receives a complete user interface overhaul. The new app shows all your recent notes on a single page as snippets, so you can zoom in check one single note or zoom out to browse through all the notes.

That’s not it! There are a  lot of other new changes as well that makes the app even more worthy and a must have app for your iOS device. Rich text editing is another important feature that will make Evernote ever more useful. You can now edit your text, make it bold, italic, underlined, highlight text, make lists and more. All just with a tap of button. There’s also the option to include URL’s in your notes and creating heading texts.

In other new features, you can now search within a note for words/text and an all new Slideshow view in Images. There are few more minor changes too, that you can read about. Hit the source link to check them out.

You can download Evernote for iPad from the App Store for free. Don’t worry it’ll work just fine with the iPhone and iPod Touch and all the features will still available other than the new UI for iPad. That’s exclusive!
