Download WhatsApp for Windows Phone 7.5 Mango

Last week there were some leaked pictures that showed the WhatsApp messenger running on a Windows Phone 7.5 Mango device. And we, obviously, assumed that WhatsApp will soon be releasing a dedicated app for the neglected mobile operating system of Microsoft’s. So they did!

The worlds most used instant messaging and sharing application for mobile devices, WhatsApp, is now also available for Windows Phone 7.5 Mango in the Windows Phone Marketplace. This is a really good news for all those early adopters of the Microsoft owned mobile operating system, as the app brings all the other OS closer.

WhatsApp Messenger, as we all know, doesn’t charge you for sending messages, photos or videos, but instead uses your data connection or Wi-Fi. That is much better than being charged by your network for every SMS or MMS that you send. You can even Group chat with all your friends who are different platforms such as iOS, BlackBerry, Nokia and Android. That’s one of the best reasons to download and use WhatsApp Messenger on your Windows Smartphone.

The app has the same features on Windows Phone 7 too, you can text any of your friends who’re using WhatsApp, send photos, Group Chat, send videos, contacts etc. Every feature, now with the Metro UI look on your Windows Phone 7.5 Mango device too.

If you’re still using Windows Phone 7, you should be receiving the 7.5 Mango update soon. To download the WhatsApp messenger for your mobile device you’ll either need to use the Zune Software on your desktop or use this link here via your phone.

WhatsApp runs only on devices that can be used to make phone calls or with a SIM slot, so it will not work on devices like iPod Touch, iPad or other tablets. You can follow our tutorial on how to use WhatsApp on iPod Touch and Apple iPad to use the app with all its functionality.

You Could iMessage Your iChat Contacts in the near Future

Apple unveiled it’s very own instant messaging service called iMessages during the iOS 5 keynote. It’s more or less like BlackBerry Messenger, as you can only text, share photos etc with your iPhone buddies only. That is the only limitation with iMessage, apart from the fact that it will only work on iOS 5. What use could it be if you couldn’t text someone who’s not got an iPhone or an iPod Touch or the iPad.

There’s some good news for Apple users now or in the near future at least. According to a report by Mac Rumors based on findings of peculiar code in Mac OS X Lions version of iChat, which could mean that iMessages will also be available on them. Being able to text or share images, videos with your Mac friends and vice versa is pretty cool and useful. Also the fact that you don’t have to pay anything to share them is delighting. You cannot text your PC friends using WhatsApp or BBM or other free SMS services. You can use Google Talk of course, but that’s a completely different thing.

Mac OS X’s iChat messenger client is used by everyone who owns a Mac, it’s simple and works with almost every chat service. How awesome would it be if you could iMessage your iChat friends. A certain developer, while snooping around the latest version of iChat being shipped with Mac OS X Lion, found some interesting lines of code.

“@interface IMMessage : NSObject
{
IMHandle *_sender;
IMHandle *_subject;
NSAttributedString *_text;
NSString *_plainBody;
NSDate *_time;
NSDate *_timeDelivered;
NSDate *_timeRead;”

iChat has nothing to do with Timedelivered and timeRead, that is something related to iMessages. So could this mean that iChat will soon be getting some iMessage love too? Well, only timeComingSoon will tell.

How-to Use WhatsApp on iPad and iPad 2 with WhatsPad

Certain apps have certain limitations, for example, by default WhatsApp doesn’t work on an iPad or iPad 2. WhatsApp is a cross-platform messenger through which you can text, send pictures and videos over the internet. It’s not however, a free application and isn’t available for the Apple iPad either. Now though, there’s a Cydia tweak that will make it work on the iPad.

whatsapp on iPadWhatsPad is a Cydia app that can be used to make WhatsApp messenger work just as it does on an iPhone and you’ll be able to send and receive data, texts etc. Since, WhatsApp is not natively available for the iPad, you’ll have to download it using iTunes and then use iPhone Configuration Utility to install it on the iPad.

How-to Install WhatsApp on iPad

Download iPhone Configuration Utility from here(Mac and PC).

Purchase and download WhatsApp from iTunes, then open the configuration utility. You will see your iPad listed on the left-hand side. Select your iPad, then look for the Applications tab on the right hand side and click on Add. Point it to your WhatsApp ipa file that you just downloaded, usually located in iTunes Media>Mobile Applications on your hard drive. Once you find it, scroll down in the Configuration tool and you should see a Install button. Click on it and WhatsApp will start installing on your iPad.

After installation, open Cydia and look for WhatsPad in the Big Boss repository. If you don’t find it, hit refresh or reload Cydia. Install WhatsPad, a small file, and then open WhatsApp. Voila!! It’s running.

You’ll have to activate WhatsApp before you start using it, so remember to use a number that works because the activation code will be sent to you via SMS. That’s all there is!! Since the app is designed for iPhone and iPod Touch, you could use FullForce Cydia app to force it to utilize all the pixels on your iPad screen. This will work on both iPad and iPad 2 models and WhatsPad is a free app.
