When you see a custom name instead of the operator’s name on anyone’s iPhone or screenshots on the internet, you might have wondered how do they do this. This tutorial will show you three free cydia apps that can change iPhone’s carrier name. Now you can change it to any fake carrier name or even your own name. We have tested these to work on the latest versions of iOS including iOS 6.1.1.
1. Fake Operator
This application does not have any icon for itself. You need to configure it through the settings app on your iPhone.
While it does not need a reboot or respring to change iPhone’s carrier name, you do need to quit Settings for the changes to take effect. Works perfectly with iOS 4.3.1+
It can be downloaded for free via Cydia. Since, it is hosted on the BigBoss repo no need to add any new repo to Cydia. Just search for Fake Operator using the search tab.
This app is similar to Fake Operator in functionality. It does have its own icon but that’s not why I like this the most. The good part is that you do not have to quit the app for the changes to be effective. Just type fake carrier name and tap on set to apply it. I have tested FakeCarrier to work on the latest iOS version 4.3.1 on iPhone 4.
Again no extra Repo needs to be added as it is hosted on BigBoss repo. Just go to Cydia and search for FakeCarrier.
MakeItMine is an app by Erica Sadun. Since, this app hasn’t been updated in a while it does not work for iOS version 4.2 and later. Also, it requires you to respring iPhone for changes to take effect. Even though respring feature is included, it is inconvenient compared to the previous two apps.
You can install MakeItMine from the ModMyI repo, which is a default repo in Cydia.
Do let us know, which is your favorite fake carrier application for iPhone and what did you finally change the carrier name to?
It is quite normal with iPhone users that they pack their phones with scores of applications and therefore finding or launching an app becomes a prolonged process in some instances. So if we get hold of a tool that will facilitate us in opening apps whether they are placed on a Homescreen or Folder will surely be a great aid. Well recently I stumbled upon an application on Cydia Store that employs a new way to launch applications and perform functions.
What is AppDialer Tweak?
It is a tweak available on Cydia that eventually allows users to dial any function or application on their iPhone to open it quickly. You just need to setup a gesture that will launch AppDialer tweak and preset numbers or number patterns that will enable you to open up the app easily.
How to Install AppDialer?
You can find AppDialer as a free download on Cydia App store. You will find it under the default repo meaning that you don’t need to discover it in some other out-of-the-box repo. Launch Cydia and enter “AppDialer” in the search bar. Once you will find it then just click on the install button and Cydia will automatically do the rest. After the installation you will have to re-spring your phone so that the tweak comes into action.
Setting Up AppDialer
Setting up procedure is also quite simple, open Settings on your iPhone and scroll down to the AppDialer settings.
Activation Method is to be selected that will eventually launch AppDialer. I prefer you choose shaking your iPhone device, but there are other activation methods as well. Next up is to choose that whether you want to enter some pattern or numbers combo to open the applications.
After doing this all you have to input a command that will trigger the application, Tap the Dial Settings option and it will prompt you to Add items, these items will be the apps or functions that you want AppDialer to open. There is an Activator Event option at the bottom as well that will facilitate users to add things of their choice, either an app or a function.
Initially you will think that this app sounds silly but I can bet that once you will install it, you are gonna love it. I will recommend this tweak for users who are fond of keeping loads of apps on their iPhone. Try it out and Let us know that whether you liked it or not?

It isn’t everyday that you come across free applications on Cydia for new themes, screensaver for iPhone and wallpapers. Today I’ll be sharing with you an app that you can download for free from Cydia and use it get iPhone screensaver.
The app itself is simply known as ScreenSaver, and all it does is provide you a list of files to chose from and use them as a screensaver for iPhone. ScreenSaver was launched a few days ago, and since then it has been downloaded a lot of times. It is yet another iPhone app that can be used for the customization and adding screensaver for your iPhone.
ScreenSaver app is actually quite interesting, because of the way it makes the screensaver for iPhone. It doesn’t actually download anything, but uses stored .mov files in its library to play it when the iPhone is locked. In turn, this works as an iPhone screensaver, coming on when you lock your iPhone.
Of course, this will effect the battery as it will be playing a .mov file when your iPhone could actually be saving battery. But, that’s not the point here, it’s about customization of your iPhone, your jailbroken iDevice. You can also add your own shortened .mov clips by copying them to the path provided by the app /var/mobile/Library/ScreenSavers/. Watch the demo video of the ScreenSaver app after the break.
This is a free Cydia app, and can be obtained by searching for it in the Big Boss Repository.
