We have covered extensively about iOS Browser apps in the past on CAG, specially the release of Skyfire browser for iOS was really a celebration thing because it allows users to play flash contents on their iDevice. But now another browsing sensation that is highly popular on Android platform has hit the Apple App store. Dolphin is the name of this third-party browser and according to many in the app industry it is by far the greatest browser that is there on Android marketplace.
Though you will find loads of browsers on Apple App store that do offer some really cool features but I think none of them is that good to force us to leave our normal browser. But I can bet that once you will get your hands on Dolphin Browser for iOS and start using it you will definitely make a switch.
Dolphin for iOS Features
The feature set of the browser is quite impressive, first of all there is the gesture feature which allows users to enter a combination that will eventually open a website.
Means that you don’t have to enter long URLs frequently, just draw a symbol and a website will open.
Then comes the sidebars, you can quickly swipe either to the left or right to open a corresponding sidebar. Webzine feature of Dolphin browser allow users to remove clutter from their favorite websites, giving them a cleaner interface. You can also flip between the mobile version and the desktop version of websites with just a click. The app is at present only designed for iPhone meaning that on iPad you will have to see an upscale version. You can check out their official website for a detailed list of features.
Dolphin is available as a free download from Apple App store, Do check it out and throw in your comments that whether you liked it or not.
Normally we spend a large chunk of our time on sites like Google, Wikipedia and Facebook. I sometimes get bored of the same look of these pages especially Facebook, so I was searching for a tweak on the internet recently that will give Facebook login page a new tricked out look and in my search I stumbled upon a cool Google Chrome extension that will let you trick out your Facebook the way you want.
Using FB Login Screen Changer
Though Facebook should have launched this feature by now but instead of waiting for them to launch why not do it yourself. What FB Login Screen Changer does is that it allows users to change the background of their login screen of Facebook to any image that is hosted online.
First of all you have to install the extension, next up is search for a background of your choice. You don’t have to download an image that you are tagging with this extension. Just copy the URL and paste it in the FB Login Screen extension options field.
It does offer you options like applying a pattern image and then tile it by checking the repeat Vertically or Horizontally checkboxes. Every time you make a change in the image or the pattern you will have to refresh the page so that the changes take place.
Here is a comparison of how your Facebook Login screen will turn out to be after installing this extension. I have used a Ferrari image as the background and it surely gives a nice look to my Facebook login page.
You can install FB Login Screen Changer from the Google Chrome’s extension page.
Android’s stock browser is pretty much sufficient for normal users who want a browser that allows them to type in a web address and it quickly takes them to that website. But if you are a tech savvy user possessing thirst for more feature heavy internet browser on your Android phone then there is a good news for you. Miren is the latest addition in Android browser realm and as per developers claim, it is a browser that will provide a very instinctive browsing experience to users.
Miren For Android Features
When you launch Miren, first thing that you will come across is start-up screen. The start-up screen is full of details from top to bottom, as you rotate your device from normal mode to landscape mode a Lock icon appears that is an orientation lock.
Although the orientation lock button goes away after sometime but it reappears every time you switch orientation of your Android device.
The moment you touch the screen within Miren interface, 3 large transparent buttons appear on screen. The middle button is for RSS Feeds that automatically detects feeds on a website, rest of the two buttons are Back and Full-screen. Using Full-screen button you can easily toggle between address bar and tab bar.
The interesting thing you will notice about it is that for any active tab there is no website label, rather the tab displays only a big ‘X’. I think Miren developers have assumed that users will know that what site they are browsing so instead of cramping label on a tab they have just included a X button so that they can close it easily.
The browsers settings is divided into two tabs, Common and Advanced. Common settings menu includes options like “scroll using volume button” and “load images”. Advanced settings page is for tech savvy users, it includes options like “tab bar visibility” and some other.
Built-in RSS Reader
That’s True! Miren browser boasts a full fledge RSS Reader, meaning that developers must have added loads of coding. Most of the users will not find this RSS Reader to be useful and it also do not sync with Google Reader. But it is a fair effort from Miren developers to include a RSS module altogether.
Overall I think Miren is an extremely useful browser and it will definitely turn out to be a serious contender to the likes of Dolphin Browser HD that have already consolidated their name in Android marketplace.
You can download Miren for free from Android marketplace.

iPad comes with Safari as a default browser and despite of adding many useful features in updates, I still feel Safari is certainly not the browser for iPad. There are many paid and unpaid browser options, which are available in the apps store.
Browsing the internet on the iPad is very much like going through a newspaper or a magazine. Because of its lightness and its larger screen, iPad is a perfect device if you want to read through the contents on internet or you want to consume media.
App store is brimming with various internet browsers for iDevices but there are some that are not so popular in-spite of having some really cool features tagged to them. Here are two really innovative and useful Web browsers for iPad that you should definitely add to your internet browsers app archive, Two Web and 360 Web Browser.
Useful Web Browsers for iPad
Lot of Dual-window web browsers are available on the Apple App store but most of them are not for free. Two Web browser is a dedicated dual-browser app for iPad that is available as a free download from the Apple App store. The app allows you to surf through web-pages side-by-side, the only drawback in this app is that the moment you will close the app it will forget about the WebPages you visited recently. Two Web app can be downloaded from App store for free.
360 Web Browser for iPad
For tech savvy internet users, Apple’s built-in stock browser Safari is a bit lightweight and not so feature-rich. So to cater for the need of high-end users, developers have launched a new browser based app called as 360 Web Browser that contains advance features and provide users a higher-level of control.
The browser have some features like Firefox sync capability that allows users to sync bookmarks and tabs from Firefox on your iPad to anyother mobile device. The Browser also supports multi-touch gestures for full screen viewing, page navigation and launching plug-ins.
The browser also has a pop-up round menu bar that include almost 20+ features. This iPad app has a full version which is $1.99 and a Lite version that is for free. I recommend that you should first download the Lite version, take it for a spin and then go for buying the full version. You can download 360 Web Browser Lite version for free from App store.
There are many other browsers for iPad is available for download in app store and here are some of them which you may consider:
