Duke Nukem for Android, Download Now

Duke Nukem is a legendary game! If you are a geek or a gamer or were at one point of time, then you definitely must have played this game. This was one of the first FPS games to be played by millions of people when no one cared about graphics or visuals. If you remember then, this game has a really weird story. Aliens have attacked the city of Los Angeles and are stealing the girls for breeding, the only person who can stop them is Duke. Now, Duke Nukem 3D, after it’s PC launch earlier this year, is finally available for download on the Android Market.

Trust us when we say that this a weird game, because there isn’t a game like this since it’s launch in early 90’s. The developers on the game Machineworks Northwest had this to say about the game.

If you’ve never played a Duke game, this is your chance to see why he’s been a fan favorite since 1991, with over 18 original Duke Nukem games since that time. Duke Nukem is not the typical faceless hero — he’s an in-your-face hero who has a personality that doesn’t quit. Yes, it’s a B-movie plot, but that’s what makes it fun!

If you’re an Android phone user and love to play games on your device, then you should definitely download this. It doesn’t have amazing graphics as such, but the gameplay is pretty awesome and you’ll have a laugh while playing it. As you can see in the screenshots above, the game is pretty awesome. It is not free though, as you’ll have to produce at least $0.99 to purchase this game. Also, it comes with only Episode 1, thus you’ll have make in-app purchases to buy the extra episodes, which again are for $0.99 each. So, overall, if you don’t have the money, don’t buy it, but if you do, then you most certainly should.

If you like watching TV shows and Sports on your mobile device, then you must be familiar with ESPN’s WatchESPN app that was released exactly a month back on April 10, 2011 for iOS. And today, ESPN has launched this application for Android devices as well.

As for all free live video streaming applications, WatchESPN app has it’s limitations too, rather stingy ones just like the iOS app. Watching TV shows, movies and sports on a mobile device or a tablet has become somewhat of a trend these days. Advantages of such mobile TV apps include the freedom to travel and watch your favorite shows, channels and sports and the ability to view them anywhere, anytime. They don’t cost any extra money either, everything is included under the cable operators service.

To watch ESPN on your Android device, you’ll need to subscribe to one of the following cable networks: Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks or Verizon FiOS TV. If you’re not subscribed to any of the those, then you won’t be able to stream any of those NASCAR races that you’ve been looking forward to watch on your Nexus S. Subscription to these cable services will give you the option to watch ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3.com on your Android phone or tablet.

The Android app is quite similar to the WatchESPN iOS app and has the same look and feel, but is more optimized for Android devices. Google Buckles Down to Remove Malicious Apps from Android Market

Google has finally officially accepted the presence of malware containing apps in Android market and buckled down to sweep them from scenario. Google accepted that 58 apps that contained malicious viruses had made their way to Android Market and till now have affected more than 260000 Android run devices. But this toll is going to be no further increase as Google is leaving no stone unturned in cleaning up.

Google is all set to launch a specifically called remote kill function. By this remote kill function Google while not bothering user (loser ?) will itself wipe out the malicious apps from the affected device.

A wave of fear is being felt in every person using Android run device whereas  Google tries to console them saying that the sole information the attackers have gathered is device’s IMEI number and nothing more. On Google Blog, it  informs about its steps to control the situation:

1.We removed the malicious applications from Android Market, suspended the associated developer accounts, and contacted law enforcement about the attack.

2.We are remotely removing the malicious applications from affected devices. This remote application removal feature is one of many security controls the Android team can use to help protect you from malicious applications.

3.We are pushing an Android Market security update to all affected devices that undoes the exploits to prevent the attacker(s) from accessing any more information from affected devices.

4.We are adding a number of measures to help prevent additional malicious applications using similar exploits from being distributed through Android Market and are working with our partners to provide the fix for the underlying security issues.

Google is also trying its best to be acquitted saying recent versions  (Android versions 2.2.2 or higher)  are already resistant to this attack and the entire problem arose due to using old versions. Further suggestions are being provided to keep the similar problems at bay. An email is being sent to every affected Android user quoting as follows:

We recently discovered applications on Android Market that were designed to harm devices. These malicious applications (“malware”) have been removed from Android Market, and the corresponding developer accounts have been closed.

According to our records, you have downloaded one or more of these applications. This malware was designed to allow an unauthorized third-party to access your device without your knowledge. As far as we can determine, the only information obtained was device-specific (IMEI/IMSI, unique codes which are used to identify mobile devices, and the version of Android running on your device).

However, this malware could leave your device and personal information at risk, so we are pushing an Android Market security update to your device to remove this malware. Over the next few hours, you will receive a notification on your device that says “Android Market Security Tool March 2011” has been installed. You are not required to take any action from there, the update will automatically run. You may also receive notification(s) on your device that an application has been removed. Within 24 hours of receiving the update, you will receive a second email confirming its success.

To ensure this update is run quickly, please make sure that your device is turned on and has a strong network connection.

For more details, please visit the Android Market Help Center.

The Android Market Team

We hope the situation soon will be under control.
