Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 & 10.1 Unveiled

Samsung announced its two new Google Android Honeycomb-based tablets, with a slimmer 10.1-inch tablet and an 8.9-inch model joining the Galaxy Tab lineup, at the CTIA 2011, Orlando. The new models are only 8.6mm thick which means that they are thinner than the Galaxy Tab 10.1, which we have seen at the MWC 2011.


Samsung also quotes that the 8.9-inch tablet is ideal for business use and creative tasks, while the 10.1-inch tablet is meant for multimedia consumption. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 incher, which has been revamped with much sleeker looks, is the biggest surprise of the event. The tablets also feature a TouchWiz user interface implemented on the Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) platform, offering superior multi-tasking and enhanced user interaction and navigation.

The 10.1 incher weighs just 595 grams, and becomes the thinnest and lightest large-screen tablet in the industry. The new tablet will be available in Wi-Fi, WiMAX, HSPA+ 21, LTE and Bluetooth 3.0 models, which comes with a 1,280-by-800 WXGA TFT LCD display and 1 GHz dual-core processor. The 10.1-inch model has a 6800 mAh battery , which lasts for nearly 10 hours of usage. The tablet also features Adobe Flash 10.2, 2-megapixel front camera and 720p video recording on its 3-megapixel rear camera.The tablet is expected to launch in the month of June 8, 2011.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 inch

The 8.9-incher also comes in Wi-Fi, WiMAX, HSPA+ 21 and LTE models. The tablet features a 1,280-by-800 resolution,  6000 mAh battery, Adobe Flash 10.2,  1 GHz dual core processor, Bluetooth 3.0, microSD and packs in a 3-megapixel camera out the back and a 2-megapixel on the front for video calling. It can playback 1080p video, and record 720p. The tablet weighs 400gm and offers a battery backup upto 10 hours of usage.The 8.9 incher is expected to launch this summer.
