How to Resume Interrupted iTunes Store Downloads on iPhone or Computer

You might be aware that songs and videos purchased from the iTunes store can be downloaded only once. However, if the download is interrupted for any reason then you can resume them on your iOS device or iTunes on your Mac or PC by following these steps.

The download might get interrupted due to one of the following reasons:

  • Accidentally quit iTunes
  • System rebooted midway
  • Internet Disconnection or slow download speeds
  • Firewall/Proxy blocking downloads

No matter what the reason for failed download be, there is a way to resume them.

Resume Interrupted Downloads on your Computer:

Normally restarting iTunes automatically resumes the remaining downloads. In case it doesn’t here are the steps to manually resume downloading.

  • Open iTunes.
  • Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads

  • Enter your account name and password.
  • Click the “Check Downloads” button.
  • Click the Resume or Resume All button, or the resume arrow to resume the download.

The downloaded content should appear in the Purchased playlist in left column, once the download is complete.

Resume Interrupted Downloads on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad:

Follow these steps for manually resuming downloads on your iOS Device:

  • From the Home screen, tap the iTunes icon.
  • For iPhone/iPod touch, tap More > Downloads. For iPad, tap Downloads.

  • Enter your account name and password.
  • Click the “OK” button.
  • Click the Resume, Resume All, or   button to start the download.

No matter which device you download the content on, once you sync the iOS device with your computer(Mac or PC) the content will be copied to the places where it was missing.
