We use Proxy websites and tools to surf the web anonymously and hide our I.P. address. Sometimes it is also used to bypass location or IP based filter on servers.
As you know that Proxy services changes our IP address which helps us to hide our real IP address from the websites. There are many online proxy websites are available which allow users to surf the web with some fake I.P. without charging a single penny. Only we need to go to the proxy website and enter the URL which we want to access.
But there is a nice Google Chrome proxy Extension, Hide My Ass addon which adds this proxy service to Google and Chrome and thus allows users to change their IP address anytime without going to a separate page for proxy.
How to use Hide my ass Chrome Addon
First of all dowload Hide My Ass! Web Proxy to your chrome browser. After installing this extension, you will see an h icon on the tool bar and it will redirect you to the hidemyass extension settings page.
This settings page allows users to select the proxy services and servers. There are various proxy services and servers are available to choose. After selecting the options, simply save the settings.
Whenever you wich to access a website with the help of proxy, open a blank tab and click on the h icon in the toolbar. When you click on the icon, it will pop up a box which asks for the URL you want to access and click on Proxy. Your URL will open with the I.P. address from the server location you have selected.
You can also check your IP address from WhatIsMy I.P. service. First, go to the whatismyip from the normal connection and then from the proxy. You will see different IP in both cases.
Bookmarking is the way to save the important links on the browser for further visit. Almost all modern web browser support this feature. But Bookmarks accessible to all the users using your browser. Sometimes we do not want to show our saved links to all the persons. In this case, either we not links to another file or try to remember the website. Save links to another file is easy but not remembering.
For solving this problem, I will suggest you to use password to protect your bookmarks. If a user want to see the bookmark, Chrome will ask for the password. Now you can share your computer to any person without fearing of bookmark disclosure.
But how to add password to Bookmark because Google Chrome does not support for this feature? To add the password protect to bookmarks, you will have to install an extension called Secure Bookmark.
Secure bookmark Password protect Chrome Bookmarks
Go to Google Chrome Webstore and install Secure Bookmark extension to your browser. After installation, you will see a star icon in omni bar. Clicking on this icon for fist time will take you to a new page where you can set the password.
When you wish to save bookmark in the password protected list, click on the star icon and then create a new bookmark button. Now save links to the list. Drag and drop also works for changing the location of a link in the list.
You will see three icons just above the list which can be used to perform some specific tasks.
First icon is for deleting the link from the list.
Second icon is for visiting the settings page
Third icon will sign off the extension and hide the list from other user.
Whenever you are going to give your system to other user, you should use sign off button to hide this list from other users. So next time when someone tries to access the bookmark list created by this extension, it will ask for the password.
There is one important thing you must know about this extension is that there is no way for password recovery in this extension. So you must remember your password otherwise you will have to reset the extension and you will lose all your saved links.
This extension also works in incognito mode. But you need to allow this extension for incognito mode. For this go to Tools and then in extension tabs, Find Secure Bookmarks. Now, Tick the ‘Allow in incognito’ checkbox.
Screen capture a.k.a taking screenshots are of those activities that you must be doing day to day. I have been using many tools on my Windows system and mostly stick to Snag it and Windows 7 snipping tool for taking screenshot. Though, as I mentioned in my earlier article (Download Google chrome offline Installer), Chrome is my favorite browser, so I thought of adding one such chrome screen capture addon, which will help me taking screen-shots quickly. Aviary is not the only addon but this is by far one of my favorite extension for Chrome.
Aviary addon for Chrome:
Among the many Google Chrome plugins, one of the most useful plugins is Aviary Screen Capture. This nifty little extension for Google Chrome lets Chrome users take screenshots of any webpage and quickly edit it from within the browser using the web app at aviary.com. Aviary Screen Capture also gives access to other services provided by aviary.com.
After installation of Aviary Screen Capture plugin, an icon is added to the address bar of Google Chrome browser which can then be clicked to access the services provided by Aviary Screen Capture.
Capturing the screen can be done by selecting the Capture Visible Portion of Page. This opens Aviary Image Markup tab with the webpage which is selected in a new tab. Next, a set of tools is made available from which users can select portions of a web page and then edit them with MS paint like features.
One of the features offered by Aviary Screen Capture is the color editor which is a within-browser color editor and color editor can be used to modify images and other multimedia elements.
Aviary also lets crop and resize images, rotate and flip them and also add visual notes like arrows, text and highlights to captured images.
Aviary Screen Capture is a one-in-all image capture and editing tool which can be effectively used to capture and edit all kinds of images and webpages within Google Chrome web browser. Well, if you are looking for a simple and easy to use Chrome screen capture addon, Aviary should be your quick choice.
There are many Google chrome screenshot extensions available at chrome app store and many of them are kick-ass when it comes to screen capturing feature. Here I have compiled a list of useful chrome extension which will help you to take screenshot right from chrome browser.
In case, if you are looking for a full fledged desktop based screenshot software, try Snag it. Professionally, I use Snag it but anyways these chrome screenshot extensions will be very handy when you want to take a quick screenshot of an area or a complete web page.
Useful Screenshot taking Chrome Extensions:
I have already talked about Aviary which is one of my top chrome screenshot extension but as I mentioned in the article there are many more like that and we will look into some of the best and recommended screenshot chrome addons.
Keep in mind, every addon serves different purpose for example, some of them let you capture complete web page screenshot and edit them too. Some of them, let you upload and host the screenshot on their website for easy sharing. So lets dive into the world of these screenshot plugins for Chrome and later on let us know, which is your favorite one:
GatherBack Screenshots Anywhere
This extension is nice but not too good. There is nothing very special in it. The only thing which made me put this extension in this countdown was that it allows us to manage all our screenshots (if we register on it). After taking the screenshot we can mail it to anyone. We can even save it by giving our email address (the screenshot comes to our email). It is useful for people who just need screenshot and no editing. [ Link ] My rating:- 1/5
This is a great extension. Its very useful with a lot of options. You can take a screenshots in 3 ways; Visible part of the page, Selected area and Entire page. After taking the screenshot you can edit it in a lot of ways. The options are :- cropping, make an arrow, make a circle, make a rectangle, make a line, freehand and add a text.
This extension is good and I suggest that you should use it. [ Link ]
Webpage Screenshot Chrome extension:
This plugin is nice and has same options as the above one, but the main reason this extension is at number 3 is the “Content Edit” option, which is currently in beta mode. By using that option you can edit the whole content on a webpage. Here is an example of what I edited on CAG:-
To save the screenshots you take from this extension, you have to install another plugin whose link is given when you try to save the screenshot. This is useful and interesting extension, I would recommend this plugin.
This is one of my favorite extensions and almost the best. The experience of using this extension is great. The user interface is also awesome. The options of editing are as same as the above two but there is one new option – Blur. Using that, you can blur a part (or the whole screenshot) of the screenshot. After taking the screenshot you can share it easily to sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Google Buzz etc. You also get the image link so you can easily share the screenshot with your friends. Lightshot Chrome extension
This screenshot extension for Chrome just rocks, the biggest reason for this being the first in the countdown is the lots of editing options. To take a screenshot from this extension, you need to first click the icon of the extension and then select the part of the page you want to take. Then click the “pencil” image which is “Edit online”. Using that you can edit the picture. The interface of the editing page is just like Adobe Photoshop and the options too are like that. Here is the interface of the extension:-
This is the best screenshot editor in all the screenshot extensions which made me bring this extension to the number one spot. Do try it and believe me you are going to love it.
Above were top 5 screenshot extensions for chrome which you can use for taking screenshot in chrome browser. If you don’t want to use extensions for taking screenshot you can take screenshot manually using MS paint.
How to take screenshot without any software or extension?
Depending upon which Windows OS you are using, you can always take screenshot without any addon. For example, Windows 7 offers handy snipping tool where as in XP or even in Windows 7, you can use Print screen key to take screenshot of screen and later on you can use Paint to edit it.
Press the PrtscsysRq (Print Screen) key which is near the Delete key and thenopen Microsoft Paint and click the Select option and use ctrl+v (or right click and paste) the image you have copied using the PrtscsysRq key. I think you all must have known this before but its just for those who don’t know. If you are using Windows7 or upper version it has an inbuilt-tool call snipping tool, which is one of the best & free way to take screenshot on your computer.
I hope you liked the post, which Google chrome screenshot extension do you use for taking screenshots? Which is your favorite extension from the above 5?

The ability to share pictures while chatting with your friend is handy and very useful. You can share screenshot, flowcharts or other pictures directly through the chat. That’s however, not present in Google Chat on the web. When you sign in using GMail and start using Google Chat, all you can do is voice chat and video chat.
GChat Pix is a very useful Google Chrome extension that lets you share pictures using the Google Chat window and just by dragging and dropping it. It works and does the job very quickly indeed. When you drag and drop any image, GChat Pix will first upload the image to it’s server and then provide a link to the image, which will appear as a image when you send it to the Google contact. That means, the contact on the other side will only receive the link, whereas you can see the thumbnail.
For obvious reasons, like security, the image will only be hosted on GChat Pix’s servers for 24 hours. You can directly drag and drop into the chat window, doesn’t matter if it’s popped out or not. It’s almost instant, well, that depends on your internet connection. This is only a Google Chrome extension so don’t try it on other browsers. After the installation, you should see a new icon in your address bar.
Just drag any amount of images over to the chat window and wait for the links to appear, then hit send. As simple as that.
Once you send the link, the contact can view it or them by clicking on the link. Fast and easy way of sharing of images in Google Chat web client. You can download GChat Pix from the Chrome web store.
Let us know what you think of this useful Google Chrome extension.
It is a common notion that WebPages are ideally meant to be viewed on our computers or handheld devices and they are not to be printed on papers. But for scenarios in which printing a webpage is a must, we have to keep in mind this thing that a webpage that is fit enough on our screens might take 2-3 papers when printed. But for Google Chrome users, there is an extension on the Chrome Web store that will help you in saving printing ink and papers while printing a webpage. Get to know about this extension after the break!
Print Plus Extension
This particular Google Chrome extension allow users to select important sections and parts of a webpage for printing, in this way the unselected portion is not printed saving both the printing ink and the papers.
How To use Print Plus for Chrome?
After installing the extension you will see a printer like icon appearing next to your Chrome’s URL bar. Just click the button and you will see a horizontal bar appearing on top of the Webpage displayed on the screen. Clicking on the Print button will send the print command.
Selecting portions of webpage is also very simple, just mouse over any section of a webpage and you will see an orange outline appearing across different parts of the page. Print Plus extension by-design identifies the portion to select depending solely on the position of your mouse pointer.
Now for the printing, you have to click any selection on the Webpage and you will see that it will be highlighted automatically with an orange box. This orange box basically represents the print area.
After the selection, just click on the Print Button visible on the extension’s bar at the top and see your selection getting printed.
I found this extension quite useful because it works with some email services like Gmail as well, meaning that you can print the body of the email only without caring for the other stuff over and below it. It is also useful for printing articles from webpage that is filled with flashy ads and junk. You can install the Print Plus extension from Google Chrome web store.
If you are using Google Chrome browser, you should check out following Chrome extensions too:
Bookmark bars are always useful because it provides us with the ability to save and access websites that are useful and important. Every internet browser provides us with the option of either turning ON/OFF the bookmark bar. Normally our bookmark lists is quite long and placing all of them on the browsers bookmark bar is not at all attractive. But Google Chrome has solved this love-hate problem with the bookmark bar with an introduction of a very useful extension. Here is a brief review of it:
What is Quick Links Extension?
Basically this extension allows users to access upto 11 of their favorite and most-visited websites by just clicking a single button. Quick Links opens up a very compact panel that can be used to access all the favorite Chrome pages and other websites.
The extension has a full-fledge options page from where users can customize the actions of Quick Links.
You can choose that which kind of websites will show whenever you click on the extension shortcut. All those Chrome pages that are highlighted in grey will appear on the Quick Links pop-up page whenever you click on the button.
Using The Quick Links Extension?
Similarly the websites that are added can also be edited anytime, just click on the web-address, it will turn green with the cursor in a blinking position prompting for edit. Just enter the new URL for the site you want to access quickly, the changes will be saved automatically.
Using the extension is very simple, click on a greyed-out Logo of Google Chrome and you will see a neat looking pop-up listing all the websites and Chrome pages you have saved. You can open the page or website in either the current tab or next tab by left click or right click on the button.
Though it may sound that this extension is offering nothing unique but if you love shaving-off your browsing time then I can assure you that this extension will help you do it. You can install Quick Links extension from Chrome web store.
Google Mail is used by a lot of people every day and Gtalk is one of the most frequently used chat clients. I use Gtalk all the time to keep in touch with my Gmail friends and contacts. It’s pretty simple, the audio clarity is okay and so is the video chat. It’s fast too and comes free with Gmail, so you don’t have to install anything to use it. However, the chat is only available in Gmail tab and Google+, meaning you cannot access it from any other tab and will have to switch back to the Gmail tab to reply to your conversation.
Gtalklet is a really super useful Google Chrome extension that lets you use the Gtalk chat on any tab, any webpage in Chrome browser. It’s really simple to setup and works really well too.
With this installed, the need to switch tabs every time you need to reply to a friend or client is a thing of past. I’ve tried this extension and it works really well. After you’ve installed the extension, you’ll need to head over to the Extension Settings and then add your Gmail username and password so that it connects to Gtalk.
Unfortunately, Google Apps account can’t be used with this extension. So only regular, non-business Gtalk users can enjoy this at the moment. Once you’ve set it up, you’ll need to refresh your page to see two new buttons on either the right side bottom or left side.
Click on the Circle button to set your status to Available, Busy or Idle or even go Invisible. To start a chat click on the + button and type a contacts email or name. You can directly sign-out from here too. To disable Gtalklet click on the Chat icon on the address bar, if it’s grey it’s offline and blue means online.
Download Gtalklet from the Chrome Web Store for free and try it out.
