Toshiba’s Satellite L630 Rugged Laptop must be the Best Laptop for College

Toshiba’s Satellite L630 Rugged Laptop must be the Best Laptop for College

The latest product addition to Toshiba’s Satellite family is the L630. I think this is going to a great favorite among young Indian users. In fact, with the rugged features it might be the best laptop for college as it is one of the most affordable rugged laptops we have seen so far.

Now let’s look at what’s so unique that makes this the best laptop for college. Not only does it have some great portability features but the Toshiba Satellite L630 also has some of the outdoor features often found in more expensive rugged laptops.

Rugged Features:

  • Wipeable Keyboard – No fear from messy hands or accidental liquid spills
  • 3D Hard Drive Impact Sensor – Protects from unexpected drops and shocks

Portability Features:

  • Long Battery Life – upto 4.6 hours of usage
  • USB sleep & Charge port – charge your iPhone, iPod or other mobile even while laptop is turned off and stored in the bag

As college students we are really skeptical about using our laptops in and outside class or in the cafeteria with friends. Often, the keyboards get jammed due to constant use with messy hands when we are having our food and there’s always the fear of accidental drops too. Earlier we did not have the option of buying rugged laptops as they were very expensive and Toshiba will be able to capture a great fraction of young laptop user with the launch of affordable rugged laptops. Also because of the dusty environment in India a wipeable keyboard is welcome.

Toshiba calls the texture of the laptop no-gloss Dura-cross. Trust me there’s more to it than just the rhyming name. The laptop has a non glossy finish on laptop causing lesser fingerprints which is a great nuisance on most of the newly released HP laptops.

Most laptops don’t charge USB devices even when they are on standby but Toshiba Satellite L630 offers charging even while laptop is switched off and being stored. This is something very useful and really innovative on Toshiba’s part. I charge my iPhone all the time using my Macbook Pro while I’m travelling but I have to keep it on standby.

The battery life of 4.6 hours will not appeal much to Apple Macbook owners like Harsh but do note that this laptop also arrives at half the price tag of an Apple Macbook. Of course there are a lot more reasons which make price of Mac worth it.

Here are the full Specifications of the Toshiba Satellite L630:
