Top 3 7-inch Tablets Available in India

Tablets are definitely the fashion of today in the tech world. After netbooks, notebooks, smartphones, etc. it is the season for tablets and everybody is looking to buy one. Even though most people prefer the 10-inch factor of a tablet, some people seem to be having some problems with the bigger size as they are sometimes not able to fit in. Those people go with the 7-inch tablets.

Even in the 7-inch tablet market, there are several choices which can confuse you and that’s why, this post will tell you about the top 3 7-inch tablets available in India.

1. HTC Flyer

HTC is quite a reputed company when it comes to smartphones. But in the tablet market, it isn’t much big. But as always, their products are amazing and HTC Flyer is yet another one of them. The 7-inch tablet with its minimal white back cover, attracts a lot of folks and the specifications keep them checking this tab.

It has a LCD capacitive touchscreen. You can store a lot in this device because of 32 GB internal storage. GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and microUSB are present in this tab. It has a 5 megapixels rear camera with auto-focus and geo-tagging and 1.3 megapixels secondary camera. Video recording is available in 720p. It has a 1.5 Ghz processor. It runs on Android v2.3.3(Gingerbread). The HTC Sense is definitely available. It has a 4000 mAh battery.

Talking about specifications, we don’t have much to criticize but when it comes to price, you may want to skip this tablet. The price of this tablet is around Rs. 39,500. I agree that the price is huge but the specs aren’t bad either. I would suggest you to see the other tabs and then take the decision. It may leave you in a dilemma but it is you who will have to choose the right thing.

2. Blackberry Playbook

Blackberry is just like HTC. Reputed in smartphones department and new in tablet department. The tablet from Blackberry is the Blackberry Playbook. Blackberry Playbook has received many reviews on the amazing performance. Certain great features make this tablet worth your hard-earned money.

It has a TFT capacitive touchscreen. It is available in three models of storage, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and microUSB are available. It has a 5 megapixels rear camera with autofocus and 3 megapixels front facing camera. Video recording is available in 1080p. It has a 1 Ghz dual-core processor. It runs on Blackberry Tablet OS. It has a 5300 mAh battery.

Well, this tablet has quite nice specifications and pricing is also done nicely. The pricing details are:

1. 16 GB: Rs. 27,990
2. 32 GB: Rs. 32,990
3. 64 GB: Rs. 39,990

For this tablet, my suggestion would be going for the 32 GB model because it costs OK and the specs wouldn’t make you feel bad after spending this much on your new tablet. If you are a Blackberry power user, you should try this one and you would definitely love it but if you are not, you may choose to wait till RIM announces some more additions to it.

3. Dell Streak 7

The third tablet of this post is Dell Streak 7. Dell is very famous in laptops and PCs business. Then they stepped in smartphones business and got some good reviews and after that they stepped in the tablets business which also gathered them some good revenue.

It has a TFT capacitive touchscreen. It has a 16 GB storage which can be expanded up to 32 GB using a microSD card. GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth, 3G, Wi-Fi and microUSD are available. It has a 5 megapixels rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and geo-tagging and 1.3 megapixels front facing camera. Video recording is available in 720p. It has a 1 Ghz dual-core processor. It runs on Android 2.2(Froyo). It has a 2780 mAh battery.

This tablet looks quite powerful but the operating system, Android 2.2 gives this tab a backward feel because nowadays every tab has Android 2.3 or Android 3. Nevertheless, the other specs can keep the customer attracted towards it.

The price of Dell Streak 7 is around Rs. 40,000. Dell Streak is yet to hit the stores in India. It will come in a month or so.

All of them were as good as any 10-inch tablet. If I had to choose one out of the above I would choose the Blackberry Playbook 16 GB version as the price is low and I don’t store much on my portable devices. Which one will you choose?
