Tiny Wings for Apple iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad: Game Review

Tiny Wings for Apple iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad: Game Review

When it comes to gaming on the iPhone, iPod Touch or the iPad, people are very selective. Some like puzzle games, some word games, some action and so on, but not all of them stay on your device for long. One either gets bored of it or completes the game and moves on to something else. There are certain games, that in spite of being small, are really very addictive and seldom get you bored. Today, I’ll be reviewing one such game, which I’m sure most of you will soon get addicted to. It’s titled as Tiny Wings, is developed by Andreas Illiger and is one of the most downloaded and featured games on iTunes.

Tiny Wings is based on a little bird with rather small wings that is striving to fly as high as it can with some help from you. It’s a real simple game, but is very challenging and fun to play when you are bored or just need a break. There isn’t much to do either, as all you have to do is make the little bird fly across mountains and islands using gravity and other items provided in game. When you touch the screen, the bird closes it’s wings and when you let go it starts flapping.

There is a catch however, and that is what makes this game very challenging and addictive. There are 11 islands to cross, but you’ll have to do it before nightfall, this is quite difficult because once you reach island 6 the night starts approaching very quickly; one mistake and your tiny winged bird will nest for the night and it starts all over again. The starting over can at times be a little annoying, but the game sounds tend to get you back in the mood for some more Tiny Wings action. Below are few screenshots that you might want to check out before downloading this game:

Tiny Wings Gameplay

You have always dreamed of flying – but your wings are tiny. Luckily the world is full of beautiful hills. Use the hills as jumps – slide down, flap your wings and fly! At least for a moment – until this annoying gravity brings you back down to earth. But the next hill is waiting for you already. Watch out for the night and fly as fast as you can. Otherwise flying will only be a dream once again.

Overall, the games does succeed in getting you addicted to the game and also saves you from boredom. Tiny Wings is a really nice arcade game for people who like challenges and I bet not many of you can reach the 11th island, heck it’s very difficult to reach even the 6th island. Gameplay is fairly easy, as all you’ll ever have to do is make the bird fly. It however requires proper timing and concentration, as once you lose speed and height, the game is as good as over. To make the bird fly higher you’ll require to get more speed when coming down a mountain, and release once at the tip. Get good at doing that and you might even make it to the 11th island.

Tiny Wings for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad only costs $0.99 and is worth the money. You can download this game from the Apple App Store, it requires iOS 4.1 and above. After Angry Birds this is one of the best bird games to be ever made. Go grab it now.

Let us know how you found this game? If you’ve already played this, then what island have to reached?
