Recently, we told you about the PwanageTool 4.2 software that was released to jailbreak iDevices on iOS 4.3.1. However this jailbreak procedure could only be completed on a Mac OS X system. Now, SnOwbreeze has released an update to help Windows users Jailbreak their iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad and iPod Touch running on iOS 4.3.1.
The new SnOwbreeze 2.4 beta1 for Windows is also a tethered jailbreak and thus your iDevice will boot into jailbroken state every time you reboot. The SnOwbreeze exploit is much simpler than the Mac one and thus is a better choice for jailbreakers out there. There is no information on when an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1 will be out, but developers are currently working very hard on that. Below are the releases notes for the SnOwbreeze 2.4 beta1 software:
- ultrasn0w now works for basebands (01.59.00 / 04.26.08 / 05.11.07 / 05.12.01 / 05.13.04 / 06.15.00)
- ultrasn0w is NOT compatible with the folllowing basebands! (02.10.04 / 03.10.01 / 04.10.01 / 05.14.02 / 05.15.04)
- iOS 4.3.1 is now supported. • iPhone 3GS users can upgrade to 06.15.00 baseband now under Unlocks section in Expert.
- Upgrading your iPhone 3GS baseband to the 06.15.00 iPad baseband hack to unlock MAY cause you to lose your GPS!
Though we would advice you to not carry out with this jailbreak if you’re not completely sure about it, but in case you do, it is strictly necessary to follow the step-by-step tutorial at Redmond Pie. Download the version 2.4 beta1 over here and if you decide to go through, remember to do exactly what the guide says or you could end up with a paper-weight.
