Skype 5.5 Beta for Windows Integrated with Facebook Chat

Skype 5.5 Beta for Windows Integrated with Facebook Chat

Since Microsoft’s acquisition of Skype, there hasn’t been any new updates from Skype. There were, unfortunately, lot of times when Skype was facing some technical issues and their services being unavailable. There’s some good news now, Skype is back, and with a new feature that’ll unite all those Skype and Facebook junkies.

Facebook Skype Integration

Back in October 2010, Skype 5.0 was released with the ability to add all your Facebook contacts and keep a track of them via Skype. You can see their status updates and other Facebook things that come along, but the ability to chat with a Facebook friend wasn’t added. Now, Skype 5.5 Beta has been released that adds the feature to instant message your Facebook contacts directly from the desktop client.

That’s not it, however, Skype 5.5 Beta also gets some other minor security and software updates that should make it work better. It also gets an all new dedicated Facebook contacts bar, that separates all your Facebook and Skype contacts. You can now even like your friends statuses and comment and stuff and several other minor tweaks to the interface.

Skype Facebook Instant Chat

You can now instant message your Facebook friends directly from Skype, helping you stay connected with the people that matter the most to you. Simply use the new Facebook contacts tab within Skype to see when a Facebook friend you want to chat with is online and then start an IM conversation right from within.

You can download Skype 5.5 for Windows from their official website here.

Let us know what you think of this new Skype feature. Also officials have confirmed that the final version will be out soon, until then enjoy chatting with your friends from Skype 5.5 for Windows.

That’s a really nice update. I frequently use Facebook as well as Skype. Now I can use both of them at one place. :)
