Saurik, the Creater of Cydia has bought JailbreakMe.com

It was reported yesterday that the popular jailbreaking service JailbreakMe.com had been bought by an uknown buyer and that it would be unsafe to use it. JailbreakMe is one of most popular free and easy to use jailbreaking service, which was also the first to jailbreak the iPad 2. However, since it’s original owner Comex was hired by Apple recently, people were worried what was going to happen to his tool.

MuscleNerd confirmed yesterday that Comex indeed had sold it to Conceited Apps and they, to make some quick buck, sold it to an unknown and untrusted buyer. He also asked everyone to stay away from JailbreakMe.com and not to use the jailbreaking tool since it could be used to spread malicious code or software to your iOS devices. It was also told that the jailbreaking tool would be moved to a new site called Jailbreaks.me, but there’s no need of that, whatsoever.

As you all should know, well the people who jailbreak their iOS devices, that one of the most important names in the jailbreaking scene is Jay Freeman, a.k.a Saurik. He was the man behind Cydia, Winterboard and MobileSubstrate. If it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t have had awesome tweaks and themes for our iDevices. So, Saurik gave the jailbreaking world, a very good news just hours ago and stated that he has bought JailbreakMe.com and has complete ownership over it. Now, that’s some really good news, as people can use the website without being afraid of anything happening to their devices.

Yesterday, we learned that jailbreakme.com was sold in July; today, I talked with the new owner: he is actually very likable and awesome. ;P
and tonight, jailbreakme.com was transferred to me (convenient, as I host the site ;P); so, going forward, we no longer need to worry!

JailbreakMe.com can only be used for devices that are running iOs 4.3.3 and below as Apple had recently patched the PDF exploit in all the versions above that. So, there’s no need to be afraid, you can go ahead and jailbreak your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad/iPad 2 using JailbreakMe.com.
