Running MacOSX Leopard on PCs

by Vaibhav Kanwal on May 1, 2008

in Apple

Here are a few screen shots of my system with OS X Leopard: -

Apple’s Mac Mini, Mac, MacPro, MacBooks all run Apple’s proprietary OS, with the latest one being Mac OS X Leopard. Apple even calls it “the world’s most advanced Operating Sytem” and true to its word it has garnered a huge fan following. I being the latest on the list!

Lets not get into what makes Apple Macs so desirable but instead lets talk about all the PC users who’ve been left in a lurch due to OS X’s non-compatibility with PC hardware.
Bootcamp allows mac users to install windows but a software capable to do the same for PC users is still far away.

Keeping the lesser mortals (PC Users)in mind OS x86 community on the net has put up a cracked version of Leopard called Kaliway Leo. There are numerous others but this is the most noob friendly :-) of the lot, which can be installed on x86 Intel based systems. You can just google Kalyway Leo , its all over the Internet. You can check out the compatibility list there to see if your system components match up to the requirements.

I installed it on Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 @ 2.2Ghz
1 GB Ram
500GB Seagate 7200 HDD
Gigabyte GA945GCMX-S2
Onboard Audio and Video

Everything works out of the box on my system, although you may require additional patches if audio or video issues arise but the possibility is few.

Piracy issues aside, lets keep away from morality for a while, its a great way to experience OS X on PCs, I’ve been running it for 15 days now, its simply fabulous.

So, OS X can now be installed on a PC but its still illegal.
Till Apple gives respite to PC users officially allowing them to run OS X ,OS x86 is the community to head to.
