RIM Releases BlackBerry Messenger 6.0 Today: Enhances Social Experience

BlackBerry Messenger is the USP of BlackBerry mobile phones. RIM today announced the release of the newest BlackBerry Messenger 6.0 with improved social functionality for users, and the availability of the BBM Social Platform SDK for developers we are seeing RIM take BlackBerry Messenger to the next level.

You can now use BBM 6 Connected Apps and text-chat with your friends from within games, use Foursquare to check-in and notify your friends and you can also share apps using BBM 6. The latest version of the messenger has been integrated with several social apps such as news apps, games and sports apps, productivity and multimedia apps also have been incorporated into the BBM 6 connected apps.

You can also use the new BB Messenger to invite your friends to download the app and join in on the action. BBM connected apps and SMS support will now allow BlackBerry users to chat with their friends from within the BBM app. See the video below to learn how easy it is to start a BBM chat from within ScoreMobile.

I think it is a step forward in the right direction for BBM to proceed as a platform and these new features will further enhance the interactive experience when using the innumerable apps on your BlackBerry smartphone.

The new version of BBM will work on BlackBerry smartphones running the BBOS 5.0 and higher but is currently unavailable for the PlayBook. It may also take up to 24 hours to get BBM 6 on your mobile device in BB App World so be patient while you wait around for the newest and the coolest Instant Messenger for your BlackBerry smartphone.
