There are many social diary apps in the market but Planner S stands out of it. Here I’m sharing my review on Planner S which is one of the best social diary app for Samsung and android phone at this moment. Think social networking has done all it can do? Then you haven’t tried out Planner S, a social diary application for iOS and Android devices. What exactly is a “social diary?”

Planner S

CAG Review on Planner S :

AKAON plans to show you with this nifty little application. Planner S incorporates a full-featured calendar/scheduler, a convenient way to make quick diary entries, tons of customization, and social networking all into one pretty package. The social networking aspect is up to you—you can sign into Planner S with your Facebook and/or Twitter account; you can also email your entries. Through the app, you can also keep track of your friends and other Planner S users through this app entry feed. “Like” their entry by tapping a heart icon, or leave a nice comment. (In fact, Planner S actually directs you to leave a “nice” comment when you tap the comment icon. There are lots of similar feel good moments from this chipper little app.)

The interface is surprisingly fluid and easy to use given the laundry list of features offered by Planner S. Each menu flows intuitively to the next. When you enter the app, you’re presented with “day” view, with a list of entries (or placeholders) displayed vertically. From there, it’s simple to access the compose mode, edit earlier entries, add reminders and alarms, or check out the social network streams.

What makes Planner S unique is the ability to make bite-sized updates so personalized. Unlike regular Facebook or Twitter updates, you’re not limited to text and/or a pic alone. Entries can be customized with skins ranging from wistful to whimsical, tagged with a feeling, expanded with your own words, enhanced with an attached photo, and accessorized with virtual stickers. Skins and stickers (both paid and free collections) are accessible from within the app, in the Planner S shop. You can make each entry pop with an attractive fusion of your own personality and Planner S style. The only negative comment I have about Planner S isn’t even really negative—there’s just so much! Even with the gorgeous interface, you’ll have to spend some time exploring the app. This might also be because I expected a calendar app and found way more than I anticipated.

Social Diary app

AKAON has struck a perfect balance between user customization and maintaining a clean, appealing style that gives this own its own look and feel. Sticker packs come themed—food, emotions, romance, adorable characters, and holidays rank high on the current packs. Skins are along the same lines. Each entry, when shared or posted, is presented a bit like a sticky memo—the skin serves as stationary, while the stickers complement the user’s entry. There are several different fonts to choose from as well.

Planner S is free in the iTunes App Store and Android Market so check it out. Even if the social networking part doesn’t appeal to you, it functions exceptionally well as a traditional planner and/or diary.

Originally discovered by PocketNow, the image below seems to have been taken using the upcoming iPhone 5. And unlike other leaks and rumors that are fake, this happens to be real. Why? Because the EXIF data from the image has some data that doesn’t match with the Camera model it was taken from.

The photo was uploaded on Flickr and supposedly taken by the iPhone 4, but the EXIF data says otherwise. As PocketLint states;

This (very attractive) photo claims to have been taken by an iPhone 4, but the rest of its EXIF data tells a different story: although the image has been cropped to 2235×2291 (5.12 megapixels), the original picture was a much larger 3264×2448 — or just shy of eight megapixels. What’s more, the lens was recorded as a 4.3mm f/2.4, which is closer to that of a point-and-shoot than the iPhone 4′s actual 3.85mm f/2.8.

The iPhone 4s 5 megapixel camera has a f/2.8 lens, whereas this photo’s data shows it as f/2.4 and it was taken on August 22. That’s not the most interesting thing, however. This delicious meal was the lunch of an Apple Engineer and was taken inside Cupertino’s Apple Headquarter or at least that’s what the location data from the picture says. There’s been a long running rumor that the iPhone 5, which should be out this October, will sport an 8 megapixel camera. So could this be the first photo from an iPhone 5? Well, all the evidence points to Yes. And interestingly, the original photo was removed from the Flickr account of the Apple Engineer, which is always a good thing.

Here is the same image, modified and the curve of the plate to reveal some more details. It was worked on by Brandon of TIMN(This is My Next).

You can clearly see that the person taking the picture with a mobile phone. Could it be the iPhone 5? Let’s hope so!! Read more here.

Few weeks back, well exactly a month back, we told you about the progress with the iOS 5 untethered jailbreak. It was clearly going somewhere and it did look like the result would be out pretty soon. And now we have some good news for all the users currently stuck with the tethered or semi-tethered iOS 5 jailbreak. If you didn’t already know, an untethered jailbreak is much better than a tethered/semi-tethered because it’s very safe and you can reboot your iOS device anytime you want.

Now the Chronic Dev team have released a video that shows a working iOS 5 untethered jailbreak on an iPod Touch. Member pod2g is the one who was successful in getting this holy deed done and has also started a blog to keep all his followers informed. He stated that he will soon be releasing his work, but we aren’t sure if the iPad and the iPhone 4S will be getting any love.

Today I succeed in jailbreaking my iPod 3G. The exploit is user-land, rely on a user ROP payload and a kernel write anywhere exploit. I can’t give much details right now, but here are the next steps :
- upgrade the iPod 3G to iOS 5.0.1
- do the same on iPhone 4 / iOS 5.0.1
- then iPad 1 & iPod 4G

At every step, the exploit code needs certainly to be reworked, but I really don’t know right now.

You can watch the video after the break and then wait for it to be released.

Untethered jailbreak is the only way that most people will even think of jailbreaking their iOS device. So hopefully, pod2g releases the untether soon and we can all enjoy the same. It has also been reported that it works perfectly fine on iOS 5.0.1.

We recently reviewed the amazing magazine styled news reader app for iPhone called Flipboard. And now here’s a new one for both Android and iPhone and it’s by none other than Google. There are a lot of news reader apps out there, but there aren’t many that are fun to read. Google Currents, as this new app is called, has a magazine styled theme just like Flipboard. But, unlike the latter, this app is available both for Android devices and for iOS devices as well.

Google has no native feed reading app for any mobile device, but it’s Google Reader is quite famous and used by many on the internet. This is their first feed reader app for the iPhone and Android phones, but, it isn’t as great as it looks. Like all Google products, this one is quite buggy as well. The current version doesn’t load all the feeds from a Google Reader account after you sync with the app. Plus, it hasn’t got any interesting or different feature that sets it apart from other magazine styled apps.

When you fire up the app for the first time, you’ll be asked to log-in with your Google credentials. If you have Google reader, then it should automatically sync all the feeds with the app. But, since there’s a bug, it probably won’t. You can share the articles, as usual, with various social media websites and also on Instapaper, Pinboard etc.

Check out more on Google Currents over here. Also, watch the video after the break, to better understand how Google Currents can help you.

That’s pretty much everything that you can do with Google Currents. Read your favorite Google reader feeds on iPhone and Android devices.

Google Currents is available for download from the Android Market and the App Store. It’s also free. So, try it out now. Although, if you already happen to have a good RSS feed reader app installed, then it’s alright to skip this app entirely.

One thing we enjoy a lot on our iOS devices is the gaming, and we all love to game. If you own an iOS device then you probably know that there are a lot of games that you can try, from Angry Birds to Infinity Blade 2. However, I still do miss all the PC games such as Need for Speed, Batman, Crysis and others that aren’t available or aren’t as great on an iOS device.

I’m guessing that most of you, if any gamers, must have played Batman Arkham Asylum. If you loved that game, then you can also play it now on your iOS device. Batman Arkham City Lockdown was just released for iOS devices and it is the most Batman you can ever get on your device. This is official game from the developers of Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City for PC, MAC, X-box and Playstation.

The inmates have escaped and Batman has his hands full defeating an army of henchmen and some of his most iconic villains. Scour the rooftops and the seedy underbelly of Gotham City through a series of one-on-one battles with the Joker, Two-Face and more, as well as the Batman: Arkham City Lockdown exclusive – Deathstroke. Choose from several Batman skins and power-ups as you punch, kick and combo your way to cleaning up Gotham City.

And this no small game, it’s a complete version where you’ll have to battle many villains and save Gotham from mayhem. You can’t expect amazing graphics on the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch like the desktop and console games, but it’s still playable and fun. It’s also compatible with the iPhone 4S and this gives yet another reason to test that new and improved, 7X faster graphics and dual core chip.

You can download Batman Arkham City Lockdown for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad from the App Store for $5.99 only.

The process of upgrading your iOS device to a custom firmware or downgrading to one that isn’t supported by your version of iTunes always comes with errors. There are so many errors that one will encounter when doing an upgrade or a restore, but the most common one would be the 1015 error on iPhone. I’m about to explain to you a really simple trick on how to fix 1015 error in iTunes.

Error 1015

The 1015 error pertains to the recovery loop experienced by iOS device users when upgrading to a custom firmware, specially the older ones such as iOS 4.1, iOS 4.2.1 and so on. This happens when you’re trying to restore to an iOS version that your version of iTunes doesn’t recognize, or when there’s a conflict with the firmware itself. Your iOS device, thus goes in to a recovery loop, where it isn’t able to exit it. This normally leaves the user in a state of paranoia and this message from iTunes;

The iphone “iphone” could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1015)

however, you don’t need to worry because it’s not as bad as you think.

Fixing Error 1015 in iTunes: Recboot

Here’s a simple trick on how to fix 1015 error in iTunes that doesn’t require much time. All you have to do is download and install a free software known as Recboot, use it to get your iOS device out of recovery mode and voila.

  • Download Recboot for Windows and Mac.
  • Make sure your device is connected to the computer and iTunes is running.
  • Run Recboot and select Exit Recovery Mode.
Recboot
  • Only select Exit Recovery mode if your iOS device is stuck in Recovery loop and is doing nothing or showing error 1015 in iTunes.
That’s it. You’re now out of the Recovery mode and the iOS device should reboot. You’ll then be treated with an activation screen, but if you’ve used a custom firmware or have already jailbroken it, then you’ll  be taken straight to the homescreen. And that is how to fix 1015 error in iTunes!

The very famous and widely used feed reader app for the Apple iPad, Flipboard, has now landed on the iPhone. If you’ve never heard of this app, then you should read our review of the iPad version here. Flipboard for iPhone is a magnificent magazine themed feed reader app that makes reading news articles much more interesting and fun.

It places all the news articles from various websites and feeds in a magazine styled snippet format, with all the news jumbled and most of them featuring an image. It’s really a work of art, and makes you want to read or just glance through all the pages whatsoever. A must have app for a Blogger or a reader.

Flipboard for iPhone Features

Flipboard for iPhone is just as great and does a great job in presenting news, even though the screen size is smaller than the iPad. It’s also one of the important apps to have on your iPhone if you like to keep yourself updated with the latest news and stories.

Cover Stories

flipboard for iphone

This is currently only available on the iPhone and the iPad version will be getting it soon. Cover stories is a really nice feature that changes every time you open the app, like live tiles in Windows Phone 7. It’s also smart and automatically shows new and fresh stories on the first page depending on what you like to read.

Social Stories

Like all the other feed reader app out there, this one too can connect to almost all the social networking websites. However, this is very different from the other feed reader apps. The way this app showcases all the stories, status updates, tweets, photos from places like Facebook, Twitter, Google Reader, Tumblr, Instagram etc is really cool. You can like photos, post tweets, comment etc directly from the app too.

Sharing

After you read a story or news article, it can be shared on all your linked social accounts like Facebook, Email, Twitter etc and can also be stored to read later. It’s all integrated to one great app and everything can be viewed with just a flick of your thumb. You can directly retweet an article too, if your Twitter account is linked that is. Commenting on an article is also possible, because sharing your opinion is a good thing. You can also sync all your content from the iPad app and have all the blogs and feeds on the iPhone app.
Flipboard team have taken special care to filter sexual, explicit or any other content nudity in Flipboard feeds. You can also report directly as flag inappropriate.

Overall, its a really good app to download and use on your iPhone, a must have app for bloggers. If you have an iPhone, then you most definitely should download this app, even if all you want to do is check your Facebook updates. Download Flipboard for iPhone from the App Store and yes it’s still free.

Looks like Airtel is going to be the first operator to announce an unlimited 3G data plan for customers. Airtel Unlimited 3G plan called ‘Airtel Super 950′, brings much awaited unlimited data plan to customers, but only in Rajasthan.

airtel unlimited 3g

3G is slowly spreading in the Indian continent and more people are actually starting to use data cards rather than broadband. One of the main advantages of a USB 3G dongle is that you can carry it anywhere with you. And since this is Airtel we are talking about, you’ll most likely get good connectivity on a mountain or even a jungle. Coming back to the new Super 950 plan introduced by Airtel, the unlimited part is not really very useful. The company promises that you’ll receive up to 7.2 MBps with the Airtel Unlimited 3G, but it only lasts for the first 6GB of data usage. Now, that’s about 4 movies and you’re bounced back to a crawling internet connection(20 kbps downloads).

However, this is a good start, and for users who don’t download anything, this could be very useful for browsing and work. If you’re doing a lot of browsing in a day, then that 6GB is not going to last long, but anyway, it’s unlimited. So all you have to pay is Rs 950 every month, which is cheap as no other carrier offers an unlimited 3G connection at the moment. Sudipto Chowdhury, chief executive officer for Rajasthan, Bharti Airtel stated:

We are delighted to announce the launch of Airtel Super 950 plan for our valued customers. As data and 3G services drive the next wave in India’s telecom industry, we are offering a plan that will offer an exciting user experience at the best price. We invite all our customers to enjoy the magic of Airtel 3G on the move.

For now, this offer and data plan is only available for users in Rajasthan, but soon it’ll be spread to many other cities and states. What do you think of this Airtel Unlimited 3G data plan?
