Official Playstation App Released for iPhone and Android

Back in December Sony’s subsidiary, the SCEE(Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) had announced that the Playstation mobile app was coming soon. It’s official now. Playstation App is available for download on iPhone and Android handsets. The free app is available in select countries right now but will come soon to all countries.

The Official Playstation App is right now still in version 1.0 and I must say I’m really amazed by the design. It is a very minimalistic design and it’s really better than most other mobile apps made for various blogs. The UI is sleek and intuitive. Playstation users will find it a lot similar to the console navigation.

App Features:

  • Check out your PlayStation Network trophies and keep up to date with your friends’ games and online status.
  • Discover all the latest games, news and hardware for your PlayStation 3, PSP and PlayStation 2.

  • Read all the announcements on the European PlayStation.Blog.
  • Share your favourite products or news with your friends on Facebook, Twitter or via e-mail.

The app has been released in the following countries as of now: UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and The Netherlands. I only had App Store accounts in the Indian and US Stores so I had to make a new account to get the App. If you are not from any of these countries you may want to check out our tutorials to make a free iTunes account in any country without a credit card:

Luckily, the PSN(PlayStation Network) accounts from all countries work on the App. I was able to login and view my trophies as well as those of my friends. It’s much easier to check the Playstation Blog on the go now. You can also view any game’s details including photographs and videos.

If you want information about any specific platform only among PS3, PS2 or PSP you filter by platform and also by genre like Action, Racing etc. So you get information only about the games you care to know and play.

An interesting addition to all pages is the Sharing feature using which you can share anything you like, via Twitter/Facebook or email.

The apps are compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch running iOS 4 and Android running OS version 1.6 or later. Here’s the App Store link.
