Accepting donations for blogs, websites, digital content using Paypal has been around for some time now. TipJoy is a new startup which makes giving tips as easy and effortless as it can be.
You can add TipJoy to your website, blog using a widget or create a custom CSS button code.
The giver is not required to pay the amount immediately after pledging to donate. He/She has the option to pay it later and the subsequent donations get accrued in his/her TipJoy account. The account is automatically created the first time you tip.
TipJoy can also be integrated with Twitter and information about who you left a tip to or those who gave you tips are sent out as twits (can be changed in settings). They’ve launched the Twitter API through which you can make your own application powered by TipJoy.
The winner gets a 1.6Ghz Apple MacBook for creating the best app using their Twitter API. Contest ends 15 May 2009.
The best feature though is the ability to create Twitter charity campaigns through which you can raise money via twitter. As Twitter is a social utility, the promotion of the campaign is itself done by sending out tweets.
Why is Tipjoy better than other methods for selling my digital content?
