Apple released iOS 5 Beta 2 earlier today, and developers can avail it by using their Apple developer passes. The testing and upgrading to iOS Beta 2 must’ve already begun. Moments after iOS 5 Beta 2 was made available for the developers, MuscleNerd reported that this new build of iOS 5 can be jailbroken too.
MuscleNerd said that the previous released versions of RedSn0w and Sn0wbreeze both of them can jailbreak iOS 5 beta 2. However, reports have been coming in that the activation hack that was seen on iOS 5 beta 1 has now been patched on the beta 2. Hence, users who don’t have a developer ID can’t activate iOS 5 beta 2. This is to keep all those non-developers from getting their hands on the beta builds(damn I say)!!
To jailbreak iOS 5 beta 2, all you need to do is have a copy of the latest Redsn0w 0.9.8b1 jailbreak tool and the previous iOS 5 beta ipsw. When you begin the jailbrake process, just point Redsn0w to the older iOS 5 beta ipsw and thinks should get working instantly. But, remember that this is only a tethered jailbreak and you’ll have to boot tethered every time you reboot. MuscleNerd also mentioned that this method should work for all the betas that Apple may release in the coming weeks.
