iOS 4.3 Beta Released to Devs, Download iOS 4.3 Beta Now

Apple’s beta version of iOS 4.3 Released to Developers. It Includes updates for AirPlay, iAds and HTTP Live streaming. But the most exciting are the new multi-touch gestures coming to iPad. If you are a developer you can now donwload iOS 4.3 beta to test the new features with your apps.

We just received the developer notification from Apple saying the iOS 4.3 beta is now available. We are really excited to try it on our iOS devices.

What’s new in iOS 4.3 Beta:

1. Airplay

iOS apps can now stream video to any widescreen TV using new Media Player APIs that support AirPlay video via Apple TV. Web content can also be updated to now support AirPlay.

2. iAd Full Screen Banners

iAd full screen banners grab the attention of users by taking advantage of the large screen of iPad to launch an immersive, interactive iAd experience. This new banner format is easy to implement. And Apple sells and serves the ads to your app while you collect 60% of the advertising revenue generated.

3. HTTP Live Streaming Statistics

Track the popularity of your streams and measure their performance. New AVFoundation APIs allow you to track information including how many people are watching your videos, how long they’re watching them, and performance metrics like observed bitrate and number of dropped frames. Use these statistics to fine tune your authoring process and deliver optimized content to your users.

4. New Features for iPad

  • The side switch on iPad can now be used for either Mute function or to lock device orientation depending on user’s choice. It can be configured in Settings.

  • New Multi-Touch gestures including four finger and five finger swipes. Read more about new iPad gestures here.

5. Personal Mobile Hotspot Feature

Just as we guessed and reported the upcoming mobile hotspot feature yesterday, it is present in iOS 4.3.

Download iOS 4.3 Beta:

are you updating via a MAC or Windows machine? Generally, pre-release (beta) software from Apple will only install from a Max OSX Environment – not Windows.
