How to preserve your RSS feeds brand name using FeedBurner

FeedBurner is undoubtedly one of the better RSS feed service. Its got some nice features that make your feed power packed. However, remembering the new Feed address provided by FeedBurner is not very easy for the visitors. feedproxy.google.com/yourfeed is a bit tedious to recall.

Wont it be better if you could have something like feeds.yourblog.com

I’ll now tell you how you can achieve the above said address by changing a setting in your feedburner account.

Sign-In to Feedburner, head to My Account and then to My Brand.

Feedburner1

Create a CNAME entry in the DNS records for each domain name.
If you want to host your feeds at the feeds subdomain (this is the most common choice, like feeds.domain.com), your CNAME entry should be:
feeds CNAME xyz.feedproxy.ghs.google.com.

Feedburner2

Enter your feed-specific domain names. Example: feeds.mydomain.com

Feedburner3

Make sure feed subscribers are subscribing to your burned feeds through your MyBrand domains. Doing so makes sure your personal domain (and brand!) stays front-and-center.

In the end, DO redirect traffic for any original feeds to your MyBrand domain(s) and feed addresses if those feeds are already publicized. If not, don’t worry about it google will do it automatically.

Note : It can take up to 24 hours for a new CNAME entry to take effect.

Let’s say your mobile phone number is very bad. It has no sequence, all arbitrary numbers.
Would you like to buy such a number when you go to select a prepaid connection although all your friends have your contact saved in their address book they dont need to remember your number but still you like to have a good number. Dont you?

Its similar here too! What’s more appealing? http://feeds2.feedburner.com/CallingAllGeeks OR http://feeds.callingallgeeks.org ?
