In case you could not resist upgrading to Apple’s latest firmware release iOS 4.3 or your device shipped with iOS 4.3 installed, iH8sn0w does have a solution to Jailbreak iOS 4.3. However, the beta app only works in Windows and does a tethered jailbreak on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch and the iPad first generation. Full instructions after the break.
In case you haven’t upgraded to iOS 4.3 yet, make sure you read the previous post Should I Upgrade my iPhone to iOS 4.3?
Once again, let me repeat that this is a beta app and might not perform as well as your previous jailbreak. Secondly, since this is a tethered jailbreak you will have to boot tethered using your computer, everytime the iOS device restarts. Ultrasn0w unlockers beware, you cannot unlock carrier on iOS 4.3 yet.
Tools Required for Jailbreaking iOS 4.3:
- iTunes 10.2 – Download here
- iOS 4.3 Firmware file (.IPSW) - Download here
- SnowBreeze 2.3 for Windows – Link
How to Jailbreak iOS 4.3 using Sn0wBreeze:
Step 1: After you have downloaded all the tools above and installed iTunes, launch Sn0wbreeze and click the blue arrow to proceed.
Step 2: Click on browse and point Sn0wbreeze to the IPSW file you downloaded above.
Step 3: After the software has verified the firmware, click on next.
Step 4: Select Expert Mode and then click on Build IPSW.
Step 5: Once the custom IPSW has been created(this will take a while) follow the onscreen instructions to place your iOS device into DFU mode. This is required to restore iPhone with custom firmware in iTunes.
Step 6: Once in DFU mode Launch iTunes with iOS device plugged in. Hold shift on your computer’s keyboard and then click on Restore in iTunes. Browse to the custom IPSW created in previous steps.
Step 7: After the device is restored, launch iBooty(downloaded in Snowbreeze package). Select your device from dropdown list and click on Start. Once again you will be shown instructions to put iPhone into DFU mode. Only this time after doing that the device will boot tethered.
That’s it! You should have a jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch now!
