Okey,  you have a Nokia mobile phone.  You are making the most advantages of the phone; taking pictures, social networking and more.  But I have a question?  What will happen if you lose your phone?  Sorry to say, all your personal information may be misused by anyone.  Want to Secure your Phone against Theft or Loss?

You can do many things to protect yourself against the loss of your mobile phone.  Here is the to-do list that you have to follow.

  • Use password protection to unlock your Mobile phone
  • Protect your memory card with a password
  • Back up your device with Nokia Ovi Suite
  • Keep IMEI* number of your cell phone on a dairy
  • Install a Anti-Thef mobile application** on your device

If you have lost your mobile phone immediately call Customer Care of your mobile phone operator to block your number and file a police report for the lost/stolen phone to get a FIR copy.  You can collect the replacement SIM card at your nearest Customer Service Center by submitting original identification documents and FIR copy.  There is no extra charge for getting your number blocked but you have to pay a nominal charge to get a duplicate SIM card.  Do you have more tips?  Please share with us.

*The IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number of a mobile phone is a 15 digit number unique to a mobile phone.  It is usually found printed inside the battery compartment of the phone.  It can also be displayed on the screen of the phone by entering *#06# into the keypad on most phones.

**You can download free Anti-Thef mobile applications from Ovi store. F-Secure anti-theft for mobile and Migital mobile anti theft are good examples.

If you are paranoid about your security and privacy, mobile is the first thing which you should protect. Because being a portable device, it’s easy to lose.

Do let us know what method do you use to keep your Nokia mobile safe & secure?
