I’ve got hooked on to Twitter, for the uninitialted, Twitter is a social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users’ updates (otherwise known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.
The great thing about Tweets is that its really very simple, you can use it to update what you are doing, where you are, what you are thinking , keep track of time, anything you can think of. Its also called Microblogging as you can post short blog entries (140 characters). You can follow your friends and they can follow you too! Its a great tool to stay connected.
Need another reason to start tweeting? Well, even Barack Obama uses twitter. Although there hasnt been much updates from him the last timeĀ I checked. I guess he’s been busy after becoming a President. the last tweet was of 15th Jan.
Afterall, even I use Twitter now, you can follow me too! I prefer to tweet through TweetDeck (Adobe Air based desktop client) straight through the comfort of my desktop.
If logging onto Web to update your status seems a lot of work, you can Tweet straight from your Mobile by sending an SMS. Still, if you feel spending Rs.3 for each update is too much (yeah, i can sympathize, it really is too much) then you can use jTwitter. It uses GPRS so you can save a lot of money that way. My carrier charges (10p/10KB) so thats cheap right?
What are you waiting for Start Twitting….
