Face Recognition on iPhone: RecognizeMe from Cydia

Face Recognition on iPhone: RecognizeMe from Cydia

If you don’t own a Jailbroken iPhone, well, then you don’t own one. It’s never too late though, I’m pretty sure after reading the title you’d want to jailbreak your iPhone. Jailbreaking your iPhone will never harm it, it’ll just make it cooler than before and probably make it appear on the Guinness Book of Records once again.

RecognizeMe iOS App

Being a jailbroken iPhone user, I know what it means and how it feels when you know you can make your iPhone more advanced and feature filled than a normal iPhone. Yet, many users don’t opt for breaking their iPhone from the jail. Good for them!!

Anyways, here’s a really cool Cydia application that will make your girlfriend believe that you work for the CIA or that you’re a secret Agent. This Cydia app is known as RecognizeMe and it actually scans your face biometrically to give you access to your locked iPhone, face recognition that is. It’s a pretty useful application if you don’t want your friends lurking around your inbox and mails looking for some embarrassing or personal stuff. Instead of the traditional lock code, it will open your front camera and scan your face to see if it’s really you.

The developer Apocolipse, has played around with the front camera of the iPhone 4, and added a new button on the lock-screen. It scans an existing database on your phone with photos of yourself and matches them to let you in. It works very well as you can see in the video after the break.

However, for some reason it doesn’t recognize your face, then you can always use the normal lock-code to enter into your iOS device. At present, I wasn’t able to find RecognizeMe on Cydia, but it is supposed to be up on the BigBoss Repo in the next few hours. Also, this package will cost you $6.99 for the first few weeks before inflation, so you can grab it now and then show your friends how cool your phone is.

What do you think of this amazing app? Are you going to buy it and pretend you’re one of those Secret Agents?

lol what’s up with the Charlie Sheen :D
It’s really cool although I find it more annoying than useful. Imagine doing that everytime you want to check a message on the phone (since most of us would set the phone to auto lock 5-15 minutes)

@Michael Dint I mention that you could also use the regular 4 digit unlock code? ;)
It’s either Enter Passcode or RecognizeMe :) You always have a choice!!
