Dell Inspiron Bluetooth Driver Problem in WinXP

dell-logo-online-newI installed WinXP 32bit and was able to get WinXP drivers for all the hardware components. The only issue was the Dell Bluetooth 355 which had no drivers for Windows XP. I could only find drivers for Vista 32 and 64bit.

Searched frantically on forums all over the net, tried drivers for Vostro and XPS to no avail. At last, I found Bluetooth Drivers for Anycom 200/250 USB Module.

I installed these and miraculously, the Bluetooth Activity LED light up! Although, it still was not working, I got this hope that I’m a step closer. LED turned on meant the Bluetooth was active but the configuration settings showed that it couldn’t find a suitable adapter.

Bluetooth-logoI decided to uninstall the Anycom Drivers and restarted the system. And Bingo! I got new hardware detected and there in the bottom most right corner of my task bar, “Dell Bluetooth 355” was being shown in a balloon tip. The most awesome looking balloon tip I’d ever seen.

Don’t really who how or why it happened but Its working now. I’m so relieved. Although, WinXP is on its way out but that doesn’t mean Dell is going to play rough with the drivers.

I hope this solves Bluetooth Driver issues of so many people who had trouble getting it to work in Windows XP after ditching the factory installed Vista.
