Check multiple email accounts, Chat, Connect with friends, Tweet using a single desktop client

I have two Gmail accounts, one Twitter account, a LinkedIn profile, and also use Facebook. Checking email every hour or so and logging in each social networking site I use makes up for a troubled net experience. Its like a lot of chores to perform.Digsby1

Recently, my friend Aakash told me about Digsby , its a rather funny name for a software which lets you do instant messaging, email and social networking all from the comfort of your desktop.

It lets you do these three tasks :

  • IM client that lets you chat with all your friends on AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Google Talk, and Jabber with one simple to manage buddy list.
  • Email notification tool that alerts you of new email and lets you perform actions such as ‘Delete’ or ‘Report Spam’ with just one click.
  • Social networking tool that alerts you of events like new messages and gives you a live Newsfeed of what your friends are up to.

I now use Digsby as my all-in-one client. It notifies me of all my email updates across different email accounts. I use it to Chat with my friends on both Gmail and Yahoo! It displays nice fading tooltips whenever there is a new alert.

Nice application to help you stay connected and keep your desktop clutter free at the same time. Download it here (15MB)
