Apple iPod Classic May Get 220 GB of Storage

Many of us may not be fond of the Apple iPod Classic, mainly because it’s old, bulky and out of fashion. It’s not the same idea with people who have a huge collection of music and like to carry it around with them. The iPod Touch won’t help you out then, with all that touchscreen magic there is not much storage space. I myself have around a 100gig of music and iPod Touch wouldn’t be my first choice.

That’s where the iPod Classic steps in with it’s marvelous storage capacity of 120GB and 160GB which would surely be very useful for geeks who like to carry a lot more music, videos and other data wherever they go. And even though the iPod Classic is quite old now and hasn’t been updating since a long time, Apple hasn’t stopped it’s production and still sells it.

This could all change with the all new Toshiba hard drives that offer storage capacities of up to 220GB in the same 1.8 inch 5mm form factor the iPod Classic uses. The new Toshiba MK series of hard drives come in 160GB, 200GB and 220GB and according to a report by Hardmac, Apple may soon update the iPod Classic line up with these hard drives.

Imagine the iPod Classic, the big boy of all the iPods, to be packing another 60GB more, that’s like carrying half of a normal home computers storage around in your pocket. If Apple decides to update the current line-up of the Classic with the Toshiba 220GB Hard Drives then I’m definitely all game for getting myself a brand new iPod Classic.

What would you do? There’s the iPhone 4 for the calls and multi-tasking and then there’s the iPod Classic for your storage needs.
