Apple recently announced the iOS 5.0.1 beta 1 & 2 for developers and even released a private version of the former for some specific users to try out. According to most reports the iOS 5.0.1 private amazingly fixed the battery life issues that most were facing with the new version. And today, they’ve released the final version of iOS 5.0.1 to the public.

It was confirmed by Apple, that iOS 5 did have a bug that caused the battery life issue in most iDevices, specially on the new iPhone 4S. This new update will fix that, however, it will be really bad for all those jailbreakers. The latest version fixes a bug in iOS 5, which would’ve been the key to an untethered jailbreak. So, if you’re planning to upgrade, you should also stop thinking about an untethered iOS 5 jailbreak. But, if your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad is giving you really bad battery backup and if you’re Australian, then you should consider upgrading.
Here’s all the bugs that iOS 5.0.1 addresses:
- Fixes bugs affecting battery life
- Adds Multitasking Gestures for original iPad
- Resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud
- Improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation

The update actually failed to do its main purpose (battery issue fix) and added new issues to the devices.

Hey sid, I regularly read your blog, but apple didn’t fixed the issue. Even they admitted it. It got worse for many users after the update. The issue is yet to be resolved.
