Apple iOS 5.0.1 Fixes Battery Issues & More [ Direct Download Links]

Apple recently announced the iOS 5.0.1 beta 1 & 2 for developers and even released a private version of the former for some specific users to try out. According to most reports the iOS 5.0.1 private amazingly fixed the battery life issues that most were facing with the new version. And today, they’ve released the final version of iOS 5.0.1 to the public.

It was confirmed by Apple, that iOS 5 did have a bug that caused the battery life issue in most iDevices, specially on the new iPhone 4S. This new update will fix that, however, it will be really bad for all those jailbreakers. The latest version fixes a bug in iOS 5, which would’ve been the key to an untethered jailbreak. So, if you’re planning to upgrade, you should also stop thinking about an untethered iOS 5 jailbreak. But, if your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad is giving you really bad battery backup and if you’re Australian, then you should consider upgrading.

Here’s all the bugs that iOS 5.0.1 addresses:

  • Fixes bugs affecting battery life
  • Adds Multitasking Gestures for original iPad
  • Resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud
  • Improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation
Again, unlockers and jailbreakers should stay away from this update, unless it’s really very important. Though the battery life bug has been fixed, installing this update will mean that you’ll never have an untethered jailbreak. Right now, only a tethered jailbreak is available for iOS 5, but the iPhone 4S has nothing yet. You’ll find the iOS 5.0.1 direct download links after the break. You can either update via iTunes or using the Over the Air feature in iOS 5.
