iBooks for iDevices is indeed a very useful and an innovative app, especially with the launch of Apple’s iPad, this particular app has really transformed the reading experience. Recently Apple has released quite a useful feature for their iBooks app that will further increase the usability of iBooks for iOS.
With this new feature, users can now save and open EPub files directly on iBooks without ever needing the syncing with iTunes, moreover this particular feature is for all the iDevices including iPad, iPhone/iPod Touch.
What is EPub?
For those who are not aware of EPub, it is an open and free e-book standard that is used by publishers all over the globe. The inclusion of this particular feature on iDevices will simplify the process of saving and opening EPub files on your device with just a click.
Now users can email any EPub files to themselves and then transfer that file directly to the iBooks app interface. Plus users can also copy any particular EPub file into their DropBox folder and then send that file from Dropbox app to iBooks app directly. But the thing that I liked the most about this feature is that users can now open the EPub files directly from Safari browser on their iDevice and connect it to iBooks app where it will be saved automatically. Next time, whenever you will sync your iDevice with iTunes all the directly downloaded EPub files will be available for other iDevices as well.
Apple has no doubt given a totally new dimension to the iBooks app with this feature and has improved the book reading feature on iOS devices.
