Cydia is full of useful applications and it will be bias to say any single application my favorite application. Though installous is one of the top iphone application which you can download from Cydia.
The work of the installous is to find *.ipa files and all the application of iPhone are in *.ipa format.
How to download and install Installous from Cydia
To download and install Installous, you need to add a source into Cydia. Open Cydia >Manage >Sources >edit >add and enter “Cydia.hackulo.us”.

Click on Add source . Once it has been added into your source. Search for application name “Installous” , and download and install it.
Once Installous is Installed go to menu and open installous to use it.
Now enjoy the power of Installous and download your fav iphone applications.

Hi i just jailbroke my iphone 3g with 4.1 os using redsnow. I tried following the directions to add the website as a source to get installous but a message pops up and doesmt let me add the source. Is there another way to get installous?

In an attempt to fix the crash on cydia, now my browser isn’t working properly, and cydia is still crashing, is there anyway I can reinstall cydia on my iphone?

The iphone must be jailbroken properly otherwise, you won’t be able to do what you want. I’ve never ever met any problems or if I did, I could fix them on the fly. You will find billions of information online which will answer all your questions and resolve all your issues if you want to do everything by your own.

U must be be clicking on appstore link when the download links appear..
wait for the full host to be downloaded on screen then try to install

thank you so much for your comment, i didn’t realise my mobile internet is sooooooooooooo slow. i do have to wait about a min or so to download all hosts. aahhhhh the pitfalls of staying in Africa. cheers x

Ok, I had trouble installing the source, in fact, I was reading here while I was downloading.
The iPod said failure like 5 times and reloaded data, finally hackulo was there.
So I looked for Installous 4 and it turns out that I found like 4 installous 4′s from different sources that I downloaded 2 years earlier.
So you don’t need hackulo but download it anyway for safety reasons (because the other ones could be frauds)

I download the blackra1n and there was an error “ASL.dll”

2: Open it, plug your phone in to your computer
3: You should see your phone’s name pop up. The the right triangle to the left of it.
4: Click the left triangle for: var/mobile/library/caches
5: Delete com.apple.mobile.installation.plist
6: Restore your phone

Hi ALL, READ THIS IF YOU INSTALLOUS 4.4 AND GET “API ERROR NO SOURCES FOUND”
This was the solution for my IPOD TOUCH 4.2.1, if it works for other models and phones etc let me know
Open Installous
and on the home page click settings(Top right)
make sure you have LOCAL SHARING turned ON !
remove metadata OFF (not sure if this is important but this is the way mine is set up and it didnt work until i did this)
and mobile hunt ON
The API Error usually occurs when you aren’t connected either with your wifi or with the Server supporting Installous.
If your wifi connection is weak, try finding a place where you have a steady connection. And if you are downloading large files over 200 MB, all you can do is pray lol.
I assume your running an iPod Touch 2G on firmware 4.2.1 jailbroken via Greenpois0n RC5 and Loader.app acquired Cydia? Use Redsn0w to install Cydia.
Using iFile, SSH, or TouchCopy, navigate to Installous’s folder, (Off the top of my head I think it is var/mobile/applications/installous/documents?) and simply rename the app to app.ipa and it should work. The reason why you get the message is due to shitty uploaders whom didn’t have a clue on how to properly UL it.
Lol, I’ve installed Installous to 3 iPod Touch 2G’s, 1 iPod Touch 4G, and 1 iPhone 3GS, and I still can’t ever remember the source repository URL!
Well here’s my problem I easily through YouTube put installous on my iPad and it stopes working after 1 app download do to some ipa problem so I uninstalled it and it’s sources and tried to do it all over and Cydia will not let me up load that source anymore please help

Hi Guy, I need great help. I have tried Jailbreaking my Iphone 4 4.3.3 several times using the Windows Redsn0w 0.9.6rc16 and Iphone 4 4.3.3 firware. After the DFU where my iphone show the Arrow pinting down with an Harddrive below it, it hangs there for a while and it says done. But when i re-boot my Iphone, no cydia is installed. I later tried downloading on my laptop Iphone browser and on the root folder I see four file which are
1. com.apple.dbaccess.lock
2. com.apple.itdbprep.postprocess.lock
3. com.apple.itunes.lock_sync
4. com.apple.itunes.syncing

have the same problem just fixed mine yesterday, all you have to do is open redsnow and do the steps in jailbreak but in the dialogue box where you need to check “install cydia” you need to check “Just boot tethered now” ONLY nothing else. Then do the rest of the steps. On the last part your iPhone should have an icon of a pineapple and then it will reboot itself.
*REMEMBER: You need to do this every time your iPhone is turned off or you restart springboard. Because 4.3.5 jailbreak is a tethered jailbreak meaning all the jailbreak apps like cydia will not function. And in 4.3.5 the iPhone will be stuck on the reboot screen if you wont do this. Hope this helps.

@MOe What Repo are you adding? Cydia.hackulo.us or something else? It happens when you try adding an outdated repo.
try deleting and readding the repo in Cydia and see if it works…
