Opera is one of the most used browsers when it comes to mobile browsers, and its pretty good and organized too. The original Opera Mini for the iOS was launched last year and saw quite a good response. Today, Opera announced the all new web browser specially made for the iOS, the Opera Mini 6 with full support for iPhones Retina Display and iPads larger screen.

There aren’t quite a lot of other options for browsers when you visit the App Store, so you’ll most probably end up downloading Opera Mini 6. Although, Safari is a really good browser, it is always good to have another browser installed just in case.

Opera Mini 6 brings along a few changes that make the browser very much iOS friendly and really easy to use on the iPhone 4, iPod Touch and iPad. The most noticeable change will however be that the Opera Mini 6 is fully compatible with the iPhone 4 Retina Display and automatically scales to the iPads resolution when used.

Opera’s, CEO Lars Boilesen describes;

I would compare it to walking onto the stage and hearing the roar of the crowd. We have put in a lot of rehearsal and clever thought behind the new experience. The Opera Mini browser has always kicked up the tempo when downloading pages; now the browsing flows along to a smooth, easy beat.

Below are the new features in Opera Mini 6 for iOS:

  • Faster performance and smoother pinch to zoom function, page panning
  • New share options for Facebook, Twitter and My Opera
  • New page now opens in the background, easy multi-tab viewing
  • Support added for international fonts such as Arabic, Chinese, Vietnamese, and other non-latin languages

That’s it for right now, perhaps we’ll see more changes and features in the future. It also a better browser for the Apple iPad, as it gets a fresh new look and scaling to the larger display. You can download Opera Mini 6 from the App Store for free. It requires iOS 3.0 and later.
